This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. A 10 shot stitched panorama! Taken with my 20D And 17-40 f/4 L. Featured In: Australia! A morning that started with a sunrise the that was totally blocked by thick clouds. However, the clouds started to part and I was greeted with this view of the incoming waves squeezing through every crack in the massive granite boulders that litter this stretch of coast

It was a cold day and the tide was far out meaning that parts of the beach that are usually cut off by the tide were accessable and I could walk a mile or so along the beach from the car park to reach this spot.

Continuation of my previous sunrise image, taken 14 minutes later as the ocean waits for the sun at Point Lonsdale beach looking over Port Phillip Bay to the Mornington Peninsula. This was one of the most beautiful sunrises that I have seen. St. Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England August 2008: Sunrise up over the English Channel on one of the most spectacular mornings i’ve witnessed at this location. The sky turned pink for just a minute before the sun rose up over the horizon.

Captured in the early morning light the glow of these magnificent cliffs is amazing. Unfortunately due to erosion, parts of these cliffs are falling into the sea and the section of beach I usually visit at St Margaret’s Bay differs each time I go with new rocks that were once cliff now at the water’s edge.

MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.

This is one from my recent trip with Glen to Moreton Island where we were witnessing a great natural spectacle. Do I really need to say anything here…..just look at this landscape and soak it in. It is a large tidal pool where we enjoyed the silence and absence of civilisation. For those of you with an iphone, I have 100 of my "best" in an application called "ifolio". Corio Bay in Geelong really turned it on this morning. I saw this from my window and jumped in the car immediately. Unfortunately, in the 5 minutes it took to get there, the beautiful pinks were gone but still quite spectacular.
