This shot was taken at Golden Bay in Ghajn Tuffieha, Malta. The ‘Spirit’ was previously shot as part of a sculpture; then cropped, modified and added on in Photoshop. I re-sized and rotated the picture and moved it around till I found its ‘niche’. © Astrid Pardew – Malta 2008

The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible in this dense morning fog. From a cliff overlooking the bay, the north pillar was visible as well as a misty outline of the San Francisco skyline in the distance. Built in 1933, the bridge was completed 5 years later in 1937. It is a part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1, and is the only road to exit San Francisco to the north. A bit of trivia: The suspension bridge is 8,981 feet in length and is 200+ feet above the water. It has a total of approximately 1.2 million rivets holding it together. I had no idea how many of these huts there are scattered around the Mornington Peninsula, it seems that they are everywhere! Really been trying to stay away from HDR lately I will put 3 exposures in Photomatix, tone map it, look at it, then scrap it and go back to Lightroom 2…so this is not a HDR image although it does have a little bit of that feel to it. This is the last photo for a while that I can remember being taken without a tripod! Was taken a little later in the morning than my last few uploads to RB. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS.
