  • Painted in my Byron Bay art gallery / studio. / This painting is one in my series on dance and movement. In this series I study, which lines and colors, within a persons movement, define the soul of a person, to find the answer I worked for several weeks with one model. / We did four photo-shoots, over 2500 photos, hours of organization, observation and dialog, one video-shoot and over a 100 sketches. This resulted into a series I call: The Narrative of Motion. The series contain powerful mysterious poses, It feels like the spirit is pushed out of the physical cage of the body.

    Well I have just gotten back from a stint up the East coast on Sunday night, and of course had to stop in Byron Bay for what was supposed to be a night, but turned into 4. Took about a million photographs but only a few were Red Bubble worthy in my own estimation. Unfortunately for me, a very talented Lee Burgess has beaten me to the punch on the lighthouse by about 8 hours…Oh well, pays not to sit on piccies too long huh! For what its worth, this is my take…

    The Gyoto Monks of Tibet are an often seen sight at many cultural events in the Byron Bay region. Seen here laughing, this particular monk escaped Tibet into India 50 years ago with His Holiness, The Dali Lama. His trademark expression and enjoying tea and biscuit, the joke is enjoyed by all at the table.
