One of my most powerful works according to friends and family. Take from it what you will. Medium: Indian ink and Gray wash, Pantone markers and Photoshop CS2.
Bands of iron, forged and moulded to make a warrior’s armour. / At dawn the city’s defenders went out to meet the foe. The battle was fierce and bloody from the first. Men slew, and in their turn were slain. Finally, one warrior stood alone between the invader king and the city with all its treasures. / The dark master saw victory at hand. Metal shrieked against metal but the bands of iron held firm beneath his sword. The city’s last protector, weary though he was, summoned one final reserve of strength. / The invader king fell lifeless as his head was parted from his shoulders.

“The possibility of anything, is better than the actualization of everything…” Why? Because the first closes no door and bars no passageways, while the second leaves nowhere left to go… I became well again, not because of this book, or the medical tags I taped inside it… also, it wasn’t the people who I made my own beforehand who made me ill. It was the legs that took me forward. It was the eyes that looked back, but only in reevaluation, never in desire.
A lone soldier stands gaurd at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Wellington, NZ, on ANZAC Day.
Another older pic, this is a digital painting or air brushed painting. I just wanted to add a point I forgotten about, as some have commented on the flatten breast. Historically, some women warriors would have their breast cut off because they were in the way, others would bind them or stuff them into fattened armor. She was a true warrior and not there to please a man nor be a mother. / THE SISTERHOOD
Confederate Cavalry soldiers line up to face yet another unrelenting attack of the Union forces. Each man prepares in his own way for the impending death. The horses dutifully will charge into the wall of bullets, not knowing that these will be their last living moments. Just think about it for a moment …... Enlarge the image, look at each man’s face, all appear to be lost in their own thoughts …... of dying.

King Robert the Bruce looking over the moorland at Bannockburn, contemplating the battle that will change Scottish history. A quiet time of lonely reflection before the defining moment when one man leads an army of his countrymen in a passionate and skillful defence of the nation. A Horse and an Mule were travelling together, the Horse prancing along in its / fine trappings, the Mule carrying with difficulty the heavy weight in its panniers. / “I wish I were you,” sighed the Mule; “nothing to do and well fed, and all that / fineharness upon you.” / Next day, however, there was a great battle, and the Horse was wounded to / death in the final charge of the day. His friend, the Mule, happened to pass by / shortly afterwards and found him on the point of death. / “I was wrong,” said the Mule: / Better humble security than gilded danger

While climbing up the wet, steep rock slope in dim light might not be very smart, I still love the view from on top of Battle Rock, especially for sunrise. The waves were large and were breaking quite far offshore, making long expanses of foamy whitewater to catch the morning light. Nikon D700 w/20 mm f/2.8D Lens @ f/9.0. 1/ 320th, ISO 400
Nelson’s Monument on the crest of Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland, replaced an existing mast with a signal-tower high enough to be visible to ships on the Firth of Forth and commemorates Admiral Lord Nelson’s death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. it is shaped like a spy glass, and from the top (unlike Nelson himself, who saw no ships) you can see the ships on the River. The stone structure is 106 ft high with 143 steps from a base 456 ft above sea level. The really smart aspect of this tower is the time signal installed at its top in 1852 to enable ships’ captains to set their chronometers accurately. A large time-ball drops on weekdays, at 12pm in Winter and 1pm in Summer coinciding with the firing of Edinburgh Castle’s One o’Clock Gun. Information supplied by Wikipedia. Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA) BEST VIEWED LARGER Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. Related shots can be found at: Edinburgh.
