  • Now for something completely different. An oldie but a goldie from the analouge vaults of a mama swimming in a rock pool down Coogee way. This is a straight b/w film capture with no tricky stuff done to it. It is as it was when I snapped it. I’ve always been taken with this matronly look possibly because I’ve always been a bit on the bony side but maybe because the woman in this picture looks like a mama. I love her to bits.

  • Wild horse in Utah after getting out of the watering hole.

  • I often get questions about the pump house and the diving blocks at Merewether Beach so I found out a bit of info….. 1935 / At a cost of 2,600 pounds, Merewether Ocean Baths, acclaimed as the ‘largest of their kind in the State’ opened as part of the Merewether Golden Jubilee celebrations in November. There was a procession in fancy dress from the Council chambers to the baths. Considered ‘the greatest advertisement for Merewether as a residential suburb’, the new baths had been built further seaward and a little to the south of the older Merewether baths on the same rock platform. At 110 yards by 90 yards, they were ‘big enough to hold the larger swimming events’ and separated into a main pool and a children’s pool by a wide promenade. The main pool nearest the sea was 110 yards long and 55 yards wide, while the shore portion was 110 yards long and 35 yards wide. The 3,500 pounds for relief work on the baths had been paid by the NSW government. Excavation of the baths promised to yield 6,000 to 7,000 cubic yards of stone valued at 2,500 pounds. Merewether Council was seeking a further government loan to cover the construction of dressing-sheds at the baths. The new baths became central to the life of the community and prompted more people from the Lower Hunter district to visit Merewether. • The rain finally eased up toady…..probably because it was back to work after easter..lol / Anyway, I managed to get out after dinner. Went to Merewether Baths and because today was ‘cleaning day’ the pool was empty so I could actually get into it without getting too wet the water was just up to my knees I got a few pics before it was too dark. I am going to post 2 shots of the pump house, both have a very different feel about them and since one of the objects of this site is to actually sell art something I have not been successful with as of late… I wanted to put up both as they will probably appeal to different people…I hope!

  • Taken in my back yard in Southern Ontario, this common sparrow knew enough to diffuse the water by putting his foot on the spout of my fountain so he could take a shower. I thought it was a fine example of a creature’s creation. Canon rebel xt with canon 70-200 zoom.
