Right, now we’ve got the confidence up, the first batch are now there to be viewed, loved, hated, indifferented (I know it’s not a word!) and maybe bought adorn your life spaces. They are a brief selection of the stuff we do. Some black and white city scapes, abstract stuff, a smattering of flowers, mix well and simmer for 20 minutes then digest for a lifetime. Hi all, I have a question and I thought I’d just throw this out there quick. (I hope its quick!) / Let’s say I have- – oh – - around 100 images that I want to reduce file size for ALL at the same time. Is there a way to do this in PhotoShop? (I have CS2 version 9). Or is there some other version of software (free) that you utilize for this task? / I have the Olympus master software that came with my camera for RAW conversion also, but I have not found a way to reduce many files at once with that either. / Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with IrfanView ? And as long as I’m getting ideas and advice, here is something else I have been wondering. Can everyone please share what kind of computer you use for your image work? (The age old question: Mac or PC) Everyone keeps telling me to get a Mac. / Even if you don’t know or don’t want to take the time to explain the batch conversion thing—PLEASE share your camera and computer information with me? I think it would be so so interesting to know and I am considering some changes. Thanks!!!! / Dawne

I thought I might share a question from another RB member: *...is there a way of converting bulk images from color to black and white …

I thought I might share a question from another RB member: ...is there a way of converting bulk images from color to black and white in photoshop / I know each image is different in tone and light and that some would require further re-touching, but if i could find a way to do this it would be a great advantage. A couple of ways: In PS or from Bridge, the easiest would be to run an action. / Select the images in Bridge > Tools > Photoshop > Batch > select the desired action / PS does have a built-in action for conversion to greyscale, but it does change the mode to greyscale – something you don’t want to do. It’s best to keep all images in RGB so that you don’t discard information. / The action is in the ‘Production’ set and can be added via the flyout menu if not visible. It also uses channel mixer as the conversion method. If you are familiar with actions, you could replace it with your own. Secondly, if they are RAW images: / In Bridge > select all the images > File > Open in Camera Raw > make the conversion on the first image. / Select all > synchronize. Then from the dialogue box, select the subset Greyscale conversion. This way you can keep all other adjustments specific to each image. this is realy appreciated Olwen, especially when i offer images in both color and b/w as i do wedding photography, ans can take around 500 plus images, and this would just make life that little bit easier. i actually use jpeg images don’t really bother much with raw. If you use CS3 or CS4 you can use the RAW method from bridge. Both versions can apply RAW conversions to JPEGS. Just select them all in Bridge and Ctrl (Cmd) + R. You will be able to convert 500 images in about 2 minutes! All that while continuing to work in Photoshop, as Bridge will be doing the work as opposed to PS!
