Digital Art: In Photoshop, I select a blank “canvas”, then select a brush and start painting with my mouse. All my work is done from “scratch” I hope you will like this adorable hound. Again I tried to capture that special look in their eyes. /
The tribute to a gorgeous Basset Hound (Fred) who was my wonderful companion for 9 years. / pix © www.shhevaun.com / 0419363057 All Rights Reserved 2006 Untouched work shot on Nikon D60 (a cheap film SLR) with two studio lights I have a studio in New Farm Brisbane and love shhooting Dogs and their owners! Initially this image was to pay homage to the shot of the bassett with his ears blowing in front of a fan… This shot captured more of Fred’s personality – he liked the breeze but it wasnt letting it move him or those huge heavy ears (btw he weighed 30kgs!)
Basset Hound / acrylic on mini canvas
Our sweet Luna was rescued by Arizona Basset Hound Rescue when a backyard breeder decided that they were tired of trying to find a home for her. I saw her when I went to do a photoshoot to help out AZBHR and fell in love. She’s the sweetest hound – not a mean or grouchy bone in her little body…and everyone who sees her says “those eyes! – She’s got beautiful eyes!” :)
18×18 Acrylic on Canvas with Swarowski Crystal Collar I have donated this artwork to the Philadelphia mission Charity. All proceeds will go towards their mission in Africa. / http://www.philadelphia33.org/
My aging Basset Hound…a little camera shy. / FEATURED IN CATS AND DOGS / PLACED IN THE TOP TEN – PERSONALITY CHALLENGE – CATS AND DOGS GROUP / /
I took this photo in Paso Robles, California at the Justin Winery. Churchill is a basset hound who doubles as the winery greeter…definitely a people dog. (I adore dogs and cats…would adopt every one in the shelters if humanly possible.) Thanks for stopping by for a visit! FEATURED in California Sound with sincere thanks to the hosts! FEATURED in phoDOGraphy ~ thank you to all the hosts!!~
Coloured Pencil and Pen drawing of a handsome Basset. This is a rework of an original that had been done a few years ago but the waistcoat and bow tie was red, which i felt clashed with the reddish tones of the dog, hence the change to blue. Coloured Pencils, size 10×8 Inches.
One of the dog’s up for adoption at Paws Humane.
FEATURED in PAWS ‘N’ CLAWS Photography Group I asked my girl to say cheese for the camera and she looked at me as if to say, “You want me to say cheese? Then gimme some lady…” “The Basset is originally from France. He gets his name from the French word bas, which means “low.” In the Middle Ages, French monks mixed a variety of hounds to produce a dog that could hunt low to the ground, following the scent of rabbits or deer over trails. This form of hunting was a popular sport for French aristocrats for hundreds of years. / As a hunter, the Basset can trail, flush, and even retrieve game. His sense of smell is second only to the Bloodhound’s. And there’s no mistaking when he has picked up the scent of his prey: He bays loudly and excitedly. He moves at a slow and steady pace, determined to get to that rabbit. / As a family companion, especially for kids, the Basset is a winner. He brings his easygoing, laid-back style into the house and is extremely devoted. / Bassets are usually black, brown, and white; those colors are acceptable in any combination or pattern.”
FEATURED IN ALL ORIGINAL FUSION / FEATURED IN ANIMAL FANTASY & WHIMSY / PLEASE VIEW LARGE VERSION A photo composite/digital painting of my old Basset Hound Riley and a bee on one of my zinnias. If you knew my wonderful old boy…this is quite fitting for his laid back reaction to most things…usually a bewildered stare without much movement…and a look as if to say…”Can I eat this?” And if it’s not food…”well, think I’ll go have a nap then…” /
