Stripped of her beauty, she stands alone, firm and strong. / Falling into sleep as Autumn fades. A time to restore her energy spent. / The cold and bitter winds of winter encircle her, testing her. / But she is safe, her armour protecting her, securing her delicate core from the many elements, shielding her from harm. / The rings of time hardened around her, embracing her, allowing her to sleep without worry. / As every day passes, she will take from the sun, bask in the light of the moon and quench her thirst from the soil drawing strength from her foundations, allowing her to grow. / When the time is right and the warmth of the earth awakens her spirit she will yet again show us her splendour. Give us her beauty. /

I just wanted to say, that this photo had only one small adjustment to it…All I did was add a little low key to it..to brighten up the sun beam….I added no other photoshop techniques whatsoever…and this is how it turned out…To date…this is my favorite piece of art I have done… Storm the Golden Eagle on beautiful Vancouver Island Canada was basking in the sun today, she found a nice spot by the barn, where the sun just happened to be hitting right behind her…interesting group of shots…almost looks like paintings…I love Storm..so much.. Goanna basking on a fallen tree. 200 ml lens Nikon D60. Approximately a metre and a half away from me. This was the largest Goanna I saw. Approximately 2 metres in length from nose to tail. He wasnt afraid of any of us and ruled the roost in the camping ground. Croajingolong National Park. **All proceeds from the sale of this image will go to the Australian Wildlife Appeal currently run on Redbubble.**

This shot was taken from the top of Kisdon Force bank looking up the dale towards Keld. The lonely barn top centre right is for sheep to take refuge, and the haze, mist, fog was just starting to roll in from the right. Nikon D300 – 31.12.2008

Just a few more minutes left of the sunshine for the day. This male Cardinal made a last stop for supper and a brief respite in the warm rays before heading off to nest for the night. He’s slightly thinner than the other red gent that was on the bird bath. LavenderMoon~
