Poulnabrone dolmen is a 5,000 year old portal tomb in the limestone Burren area of County Clare, Ireland. The dolmen consists of a massive flat capstone supported on several upright pillars, and would originally have been covered by a mound of earth. Archeological excavations found several traces of human remains at the burial site, which now stands as a stark reminder of an ancient civilisation. Looking back through the mists of time, who knows what ancient religious rites took place at this barren and windswept scene? Winner of the Heritage in Stone group challenge Stone Circles and Standing Stones.
This was taken in a full on blizzard. This tree was about as far as I could see. / I had to use a slow shutter speed to avoid getting blurs from the snow. It only took a few seconds to take this, but I still had snow in my viewfinder, and it was as cold as it looks.

I remember just standing there.. mouth agape… hearing nothing…
I received a timely reminder today from a very dear friend to “come out and play” so here I am =) I worked on the colour version of this for so long that I completely lost any objectivity I may have once had, even after walking away from it for days and coming back to it. I love the black and white, but the colour version has a totally different feel, a really intense feel… I can’t really explain it. I may upload that one too, just to get some feedback on the both of them side by side. Hello my friend, we meet again / It’s been awhile, where should we begin? / Feels like forever / Within my heart are memories / Of perfect love that you gave to me / Oh, I remember When you are with me, I’m free / I’m careless, I believe / Above all the others we’ll fly / This brings tears to my eyes / My sacrifice We’ve seen our share of ups and downs / Oh how quickly life can turn around / In an instant / It feels so good to reunite / Within yourself and within your mind / Let’s find peace there When you are with me, I’m free / I’m careless, I believe / Above all the others we’ll fly / This brings tears to my eyes / My sacrifice I just want to say hello again / I just want to say hello again When you are with me I’m free / I’m careless, I believe / Above all the others we’ll fly / This brings tears to my eyes / Cause when you are with me I am free / I’m careless, I believe / Above all the others we’ll fly / This brings tears to my eyes / My sacrifice, My sacrifice I just want to say hello again / I just want to say hello again My sacrifice. My Sacrifice Lyrics by Creed
Initially, this piece was about burying dreams. What happens when there’s nothing left but to let go of everything, abandon hope, and walk away to let God do what he pleases… 3 years later, still struggling, I found that a branch had in fact, taken root, with a stubborn leaf defiant against the barren land and winter sky… This piece took 3 years for me to complete. (Its not for sale because, due to size, I can’t get a reproduction that is good enough quality.) My faith holds as resolutely (and defiantly in the face of circumstances) as the leaf. Collage and acrylic ink. The branch is real. The leaf I made. (For the works on paper group: I made this on stretched butcher paper. I used that paper because it was brown and because I could actually stretch it over stretcher bars. I haven’t had much luck doing that with thicker papers. There are also countless papers collaged into the piece. The leaf is made entirely of papers—tissue papers and others.) Featured in Works on Paper. :)
Oil // One will count a tree or two, and perhaps a bird in flight. Then, at last, we shall see the beginnings of a rainbow upon a barren land. /

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.” ~1 Samuel 10-11 Stock Credits: / Woman by pieceofmestock.deviantart.com / Keys by bazzlestock.deviantart.com
My Website Featured in Sets of Two View the song Here To The Moon And Back- Savage Garden She’s taking her time making up the reasons / To justify all the hurt inside / Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes / Everyone’s got a theory about the bitter one / They’re saying / Mama never loved her much / And daddy never keeps in touch / That’s why she shies away from human affection / But somewhere in a private place / She packs her bags for outer space / And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot / To come (and she’ll say to him) / She’s saying I would fly you to the moon and back / If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby / Got a ticket for a world where we don’t belong / So would you be my baby Ooh-ooh She can’t remember a time / When she felt needed / If love was red then she was colour-blind / All her friends they’ve been tried for treason / And crimes that were never defined / She’s saying / Love is like a barren place / And reaching out for human faith / Is like a journey I just don’t have a map for / So baby gonna take a dive and push the shift to overdrive / Send a signal that she’s hanging all her hopes on the stars / (What a pleasant dream) she’s saying Love we’re flying to the moon and back / If you’ll be, if you’ll be my baby / Got a ticket for a world where we don’t belong / So would you be my baby (Hold on Hold on) Mamma never loved her much / And daddy never keeps in touch / That’s why she shies away from human affection / But somewhere in a private place / She packs her bags for outer space / And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot / To come (and she’ll say to him) / She’s saying Well I would fly you to the moon and back / If you’ll be if you’ll be my baby / Got a ticket for a world where we don’t belong / So would you be my baby I would fly you to the moon and back / If you’ll be if you’ll be my baby / Got a ticket for a world where we don’t belong / So would you be my baby Yeah!
