Close to Stanley is the Highfield Estate, an elegant 1830’s homestead including chapel, cottages and farmyard buildings, which was built for the head of the Van Diemens’s Land Company. This company had been set up 10 years previously to exploit the north-west coast’s wool-growing potential, but although a large farm was established, financial losses forced the company out within 30 years.

The future king of the United States of America mocks you irrelevant opinions.
A painting of Barrack Obama on a dollar bill. The original size is at 36” x 15” I called it “One Dream” because it exemplifies what a lot of Americans are going through. To get past the barriers that hold us down and to move forward in pursuing whatever we are dreaming of. Obama is in inspiration to many people. Let’s keep the dream alive! Quote by Barrack Obama on the left of painting reads, “Change will not come if we wait for / some other person or some other time, / We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. / We are the change that we seek.”
Old indoor rifle range in Preston Barrracks. / I did use a touch here
A strange place, very gaunt, almost frightening, now occupied by squatters. Efforts have been made to restore this vital piece of Malta’s history, but sadly the funds are not there nor perhaps is the will.
Wagons and old barracks of Fort Union, New Mexico. A thriving settlement used to protect the famous Santa Fe trail.
Originally built to guard travel and trade along the Santa Fe trail, this is what remains of the historic Fort Union in New Mexico.
Wear Obama Proudly!
RAF Binbrook seems to age like a ripening Stilton, with the passage of time bringing a richness, crumbly texture & distinct veining… This is one of two grand ballrooms with the banquet hall beyond. Perhaps it wont be much longer before most of it’s ‘character’ is just rubble lying on the floor, but while that survives it could be mistaken for a Tarkovsky film set.
Perhaps the only urbex photograph ever to be named in honour of Ronnie Barker’s classic and incomparably hilarious ‘Cheers’ sketch… The Officer’s Bar at RAF Binbrook, has certainly seen better days but is still a striking piece of 60’s/70’s bar decor. In the foreground you might just spot a board, on the floor, festooned with the insignia stickers of visiting squadrons.
