Shot over the Barossa Valley. All existence of mans hand was hidden bar the stacks from one of the wineries.

This shot was taken of the church in the heart of Tanunda, (The Barossa Valley) South Australia. A storm was about to roll in and the clouds turned streaky within a matter of minutes.

Photo taken at the Illaparra Fortified Winery in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. / I bought a port barrel from Illaparra on my last visit and it’s just great. I really liked the how the chair and rusty fountain looked together against the textured wall. See the location on Google Maps

150year old shearing shed in Barossa Valley. Still used. My sister-in-law’s family run a sheep, cattle and cropping farm.

I took this image a few days ago whilst on the way to the Barossa Valley with a girlfriend and my sister. The large tree is a native Eucalyptus tree. Couldn’t resist taking a photo of the purple even though it is a noxious weed in this state and most others I think. It is known as Paterson’s Curse or Salvation Jane (Echium plantagineum ). Paterson’s curse/Salvation Jane is toxic to pigs and horses, and the hairs may irritate cow’s udders. Sheep are more resistant but over a number of years they develop liver damage, which may cause death after sudden stress on the liver as from pregnancy or intake of lush feed. The flowers are of value to the honey industry. / Information came from: http://www.esc.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/Sheets/herbs/H%20Paterson’s%20curse.htm

Taken at the Lyndoch Lavender Farm, South Australia – a great spot for photographers to visit especially in early November when most of the lavender bushes are in flower. Don’t forget to visit the shop which is full of wonderful lavender products such as the lavender choc chip cookies – which I can recommend, or you can dine in the cafe. Where? Crn Hoffnungsthal Rd & Tweedies Gully Rd (follow the signs off the Lyndoch to Williamstown Rd) When? Open daily from 1st Aug to 31st Dec – best flowering time late Oct/early Nov. / / / /

Woke up early to take some sunrise shots, disappointed by the lack of colours in the sky I focussed on the colours of the landscape. Dawn is one of my favourite times to take photos and was extremely impressed by the “spring” colours of the Barossa Valley region in South Australia.

Took the opportunity to get some photos of the dark clouds and try out HDR

Took this image in the Barossa recently, just loved the purple even though it is a weed! Used the clarify tool on this image at +7, like the effect it gives. Apparently it is for hazy conditions.

Old Nuriootpa Railway Station, Barossa Valley, South Australia. Nuriootpa means “meeting place’ as it was used by the Aboriginal tribes as a place of barter before white settlement. It is now the commercial centre of the Barossa Valley. No doubt this old station was very much a meeting place in its day. / / / / / / / /

Another version of the old Nuriootpa Railway Station (Thanks to Barbie for the inspiration for the title)

Took this image in the Barossa. It is an HDR, 3 images of exposures -1 0 +1, blended together then tonemapped. I just love the variety of colours and the way the light was on the gum tree.
