/ From Helsingør to west is Hillerod, the home of Frederiksborg Slot. This Dutch Renaissance castle sits on three small island on the east side of Lake Slotsk. Parts of the castle date from the 1560-s, while most of the visible structure comes from the 1600-s. The top photo shows a good shot the main building on the site, including the church on the left side of it. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV, and is now known as The Museum of National History. The current building replaced a previous castle erected by Frederick II, and is the largest Renaissance palace in Scandinavia. Around the castle is a large, baroque formal garden. I was there in year 2006 summer with my school students from class 11 a. Picture is done with Nixon D You can experience more than the royal décor when you visit the castle. The National Museum of History’s permanent collection is wide-ranging. It is probably best known for its outstanding collection of portraits – the largest of its kind in Denmark, but it also houses an important collection of history painting. In addition, the museum holds a significant collection of furniture and decorative art as well as a collection of prints and drawings. With its formal avenues of trees and bushes and the cascade and flower beds the Baroque Garden of the castle is a wonderful respite after your visit to the castle. You also have the option to sail on the castle lake. Every Thursday between 13:30 and 14:00 a renaissance style concert is held in the castle church. Oil on board. I am interested in the impact of art on fashion and fashion on art, especially the Rococco era with its preoccupation of collecting, identifying and cataloguing of new plants and flowers. It resulted in fashion moving away from heavy fabrics of the Baroque to the light and fluid fabrics, and characteristics of asymmetry, naturalism and surface decoration. By painting, collaging, textile elements and other found objects, I have rendered realistic images of 18th Century costumes ambiguous and semi-abstract forms. They are depicted upon Rococco patterned backgrounds such as Mechlin lace exploring such technology as photo-transfer on materials such as velvet, canvas, linen, perspex and board.

The intricate architectural design of stone is amazing. i wish I knew the story behing the carving, as there’s a man who has a knife on the neck of a boy or cherub, maidens or nuns praying, and a dragon like figure below them, upside down.

Adding a modern spin to what we think of as ancient and out-of-fashion is thrilling, exciting, and intimidating, specially when the results come out so rewarding.Through this piece, I want to communicate old stories of symbols and styles from the past via my own colorful, modern, and hip way. The artworks re-contextualize old elements in a whole new composition that relates to today’s different taste and sensation.
