Swan captured in Barnes in London. See T-shirt too -
taken in the barn. Maine, USA
Dramatic clouds frame this old barn near Maxwell, TX.
I came across this building on my run about in the snow storm. I thought of doing it in B&W or even Sepia.. But alas I liked the colors that showed.. These small sheds and barns were built to last. Some made of ash tree’s. It looks as if its being kept in repair and still an older look.. With the falling snow and overcast sky it made my choice.. hope you agree..

This was for a contest to re-create a Fairy Tale…It’s also my FAVE fairy tale AND the little girl in this is my Daughter. I took all Shots except the alley. Used a pic from stock exchange! The Little Matchstick Girl( Hans Christian Anderson) / Most terribly cold it was; it snowed, and was nearly quite dark, and evening—the last evening of the year. In this cold and darkness there went along the street a poor little maiden with her tiny naked feet, that were quite red and blue from cold. She carried matches in an old apron. The flakes of snow covered her long hair, which fell in beautiful curls around her neck. From all the windows the candles were gleaming, for you know it was New Year’s Eve. In a corner formed by two houses, she seated herself down and cowered together. Her little feet she had drawn close up to her, but she grew colder and colder. Her little hands were almost numbed with cold. Oh! a match might afford her a world of comfort, if she only dared take a single one out of the bundle, draw it against the wall, and warm her fingers by it. Rischt. How it blazed, how it burnt,as she held her hands over it: it was a wonderful light. She rubbed another against the wall: it burned brightly, and where the light fell on the wall, she could see into the room. On the table was spread a snow-white tablecloth, and the roast goose was steaming famously with its stuffing of apple and dried plums. She lighted another match. Now there she was sitting under the most magnificent Christmas tree. The lights of the Christmas tree rose higher and higher, she saw them now as stars in heaven; one fell down and formed a long trail of fire. / <<>>said the little girl; for her old grandmother had told her, that when a star falls, a soul ascends to God. She drew another match against the wall: it was again light, and in the lustre there stood the old grandmother, with such an expression of love. Grandmother, cried the little one… ...She took the little maiden, on her arm, and both flew in brightness and in joy so high, so very high, and then above was neither cold, nor hunger, nor anxiety—they were with God.

Barn Owl…..... With heart shaped face, buff back and wings and pure white under parts the barn owl is a distinctive and much loved countryside bird. Widely distributed across the UK, and indeed the world, the bird has suffered declines over the past fifty years as a result of the degradation of once prey-rich habitats in the face of intensive agricultural practices. This decline, fortunately, has halted in many areas and the population may now be increasing. / Where to see them Open country, along field edges, riverbanks and roadside verges. / When to see them All year round; during the day, but best at dusk. / What they eat Mice, voles and shrews

So we were on another of our photo hunts… my husband, our best friend and me. We peeked into a teetering old barn, and there were chairs set up in it. We left them as is…. and snapped our photos. I couldn’t help but wonder what they had been placed there for. This was just one of them.

The Coach House at Woolmers Estate, near Longford, Tasmania. / The building dates from the 1840’s, the cars are a 1913 Wolseley and an old Dodge, still with its leaping ram ornament. Four shots from +4 to -2 were taken with a Canon 5D Mark 2 and combined in Photomatix Pro 3.2. / Then opened in Photoshop CS4. Several adjustment layers including curves and B&W with lots of masking. / The highlights and shadows were enhanced by painting in either white or black on a grey layer set to Vivid Light blending mode.
