  • This was for a contest to re-create a Fairy Tale…It’s also my FAVE fairy tale AND the little girl in this is my Daughter. I took all Shots except the alley. Used a pic from stock exchange! The Little Matchstick Girl( Hans Christian Anderson) / Most terribly cold it was; it snowed, and was nearly quite dark, and evening—the last evening of the year. In this cold and darkness there went along the street a poor little maiden with her tiny naked feet, that were quite red and blue from cold. She carried matches in an old apron. The flakes of snow covered her long hair, which fell in beautiful curls around her neck. From all the windows the candles were gleaming, for you know it was New Year’s Eve. In a corner formed by two houses, she seated herself down and cowered together. Her little feet she had drawn close up to her, but she grew colder and colder. Her little hands were almost numbed with cold. Oh! a match might afford her a world of comfort, if she only dared take a single one out of the bundle, draw it against the wall, and warm her fingers by it. Rischt. How it blazed, how it burnt,as she held her hands over it: it was a wonderful light. She rubbed another against the wall: it burned brightly, and where the light fell on the wall, she could see into the room. On the table was spread a snow-white tablecloth, and the roast goose was steaming famously with its stuffing of apple and dried plums. She lighted another match. Now there she was sitting under the most magnificent Christmas tree. The lights of the Christmas tree rose higher and higher, she saw them now as stars in heaven; one fell down and formed a long trail of fire. / <<>>said the little girl; for her old grandmother had told her, that when a star falls, a soul ascends to God. She drew another match against the wall: it was again light, and in the lustre there stood the old grandmother, with such an expression of love. Grandmother, cried the little one… ...She took the little maiden, on her arm, and both flew in brightness and in joy so high, so very high, and then above was neither cold, nor hunger, nor anxiety—they were with God.

  • So we were on another of our photo hunts… my husband, our best friend and me. We peeked into a teetering old barn, and there were chairs set up in it. We left them as is…. and snapped our photos. I couldn’t help but wonder what they had been placed there for. This was just one of them.

  • ... I did not use any photoshop or editing at all for any of my pictures they are simply all natural…

  • May 2009 Demolition of Barn Dance / “In the context of physical construction, deconstruction is the selective dismantlement of building components, specifically for re-use, recycling, and waste management. It differs from demolition where a site is cleared of its building by the most expedient means. Deconstruction has also been defined as “construction in reverse”. The process of dismantling structures is an ancient activity that has been revived by the growing field of sustainable, green building. Buildings, like everything, have a life-cycle. Deconstruction focuses on giving the materials within a building a new life once the building as a whole can no longer continue. / When buildings reach the end of their useful life, they are typically demolished and hauled to landfills. Implosions or ‘wrecking-ball’ style demolition is relatively inexpensive and offers a quick method of clearing sites for new structures. On the other hand, this method creates substantial amounts of waste. Components within old buildings may still be valuable, sometimes more valuable than at the time the building was constructed. Deconstruction is a method of harvesting what is commonly considered “waste” and reclaiming it into useful building material.” ~ Wikipedia / I can only hope since the process appears to be a slow one as opposed to one of ultimate tear down that a salvage process of some kind is underway. /

  • A old Barn that looks like it hasn’t been used for much but dumping some tires.. / Taken in Pigeon Michigan Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens

  • Featured in The Keystone State – Pennsylvania group August 20, 2009. / Featured in Object Studies and Concepts August 16, 2009. / Featured in HDR Photography August 15, 2009. / Featured in Rural Around The Globe August 11, 2009. Best On Full Size This image was taken at The Keystone State – Pennsylvania group’s recent shoot in Lancaster County, PA (near Manheim) at BreakAway Farms. One of the great things about this shot, for me, is that my Dear Hubby (who came along YAY!) actually found this little bottle and placed it on the window sill for me. He even named the shot. The bottle is from the wedding of the owner of the farm … 6 years previous. It eventually gathered quite a crowd … this is Ann, Mike and Eric all working to get just the right perspective!!!! The bottle image taken on the morning of August 8, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter was at 1/50, aperture f/13, exp. 0.00, iso 400. Post processing included duplication of the image 3 more times at +3, 0, -3, -8 and HDR in Photomatix, then back to Photoshop for more work with the clone tool, levels, blending with a previously multiplied layer and addition of a texture. texture courtesy of Ghostbones on Flickr

  • The Coach House at Woolmers Estate, near Longford, Tasmania. / The building dates from the 1840’s, the cars are a 1913 Wolseley and an old Dodge, still with its leaping ram ornament. Four shots from +4 to -2 were taken with a Canon 5D Mark 2 and combined in Photomatix Pro 3.2. / Then opened in Photoshop CS4. Several adjustment layers including curves and B&W with lots of masking. / The highlights and shadows were enhanced by painting in either white or black on a grey layer set to Vivid Light blending mode.
