Barn in spring meadow
This is a photo I took years ago, when I was using film. It is a picture of our back yard, on our farm. My dad loved our farm, so I included it in a slideshow I prepared for his memorial dinner.
Don’t touch it, or it will collapse!
I came across this building on my run about in the snow storm. I thought of doing it in B&W or even Sepia.. But alas I liked the colors that showed.. These small sheds and barns were built to last. Some made of ash tree’s. It looks as if its being kept in repair and still an older look.. With the falling snow and overcast sky it made my choice.. hope you agree..

One of my very first watercolor paintings, done in a college watercolor course several decades ago, this painting was awarded an “honorable mention” in a Milwaukee Journal Art Awards Program. I am adding it now primarily to support the new group, Dilapidated Buildings, a subject which has always intrigued and inspired me. The inspiration for this painting was an old shed that once existed somewhere near Monroe, Wisconsin, in Green County.
I found this horse while driving and decided to stop. He was every bit as cooperative as I hoped he would be standing proud in front of his property and home. Little did I know then that his mate was hiding around back or inside this little shed.
This was around the back of the farm
Well this is one of those occasions when I turned to the husband and said: “Stop, stop the car, I saw something back there I need to shoot!” / I just couldn’t pass up trying to capture this old barn on the way out the beach this morning. Found this barn along the Oka Rd in Ste-Marthe-sur-le-lac, Quebec CANADA, July 2008 just about 5 minutes from home. Very beautiful fog this morning. This is just a shot of an old tractor shed in our yard. Was too pretty to walk past before leaving for work. / Vermillion, South Dakota Summer 2008 / /
The Old Salt Barn on Ka’ono’ulu Ranch is fixin’ to fall down any day now, the owner told me. And so I made this old building my priority. Shooting HDR style, was able to capture the full glory of the UpCountry Maui sunset.
In the style of J. Edgar Mitchell (1871-1922). / A north-east painter. Watercolour, and highlights of white gouache. I painted this in my class at the Shipley Art Gallery, in Gateshead. 140lb, hand-made, Two Rivers, watercolour paper. 16” x 11”
