  • I am such a sucker for old Barns, especially red ones….sad thing is that we don’t see many here in Colorado….captured on a windy and snowy day along the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway

  • Autumn in the Rockies is always special and one thing I just love to do is get out on the backroads and explore….and this is one of those shots from doing just that very thing. Captured in the little town of Riverside, Colorado….I wish this place was mine! / Thoughts welcomed!

  • Shot this morning, a 3 bracket HDR image, output through Photoshop and Photomatix. As I said I was moving out to the country, and the photo-opps are numerous! :) I have always found scenes like this in rural America almost iconic in a sense, the ever enduring struggle of the American Farmer vs Government and big Corporate America. When I saw this I just stopped dead in my tracks, what you don’t see is the ranch house which was built about 30 years ago all boarded up….just sitting there….it really is just sad, seeing these open fields go to waste, the barn empty, with rusty farm equipment, harking back to when a family made an honest living off the land and the crops they raised. Part of America forever lost, part of a families tradition gone, forever. So goes life at times on the Eastern Plains of Colorado….... Thoughts welcomed ..the song below simply says it all…... —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • When I first came to Redbubble, I only had a couple pieces to post. I always reduced the size of my photos before editing them(making them too small for here), just didn’t have a reason to keep them full size until Redbubble. Anyways, I threw this pic up, just so I had more than 2 posted. I didn’t really even like it. The original shot’s exposure was all kinds of screwed up. I edited so much, I was just plain sick of it. But like I said, it was a filler pic. I sooo did not expect the amount of attention it received, much less that it sold. I’ve actually grown to really like it too. So I thought I’d share this, and the original shot with everyone. So here it is: This piece was my very first sold piece. It was also chosen for the Featured Art Page (before group featuring), featured in A Photographer’s Craft group, and was a finalist in the May US Scenic Photo Contest. • This is my good friend Randy, who has been blessed to make his living as a cowboy throughout the western United States, including Hawaii. Currently he and his wife are managing a ranch in Montana, which is where I captured this picture of him. Randy has always been a hero to me, loving wholeheartedly what he does, and loving God wholeheartedly as well. With a song on his lips or a lesson in his actions, Randy is a man of many talents, including breaking horses, reciting poetry at gatherings across the west, and braiding reatas (ropes). In this particular photo, he was waiting for more cattle to be brought his way for sorting (to be loaded and transported to another ranch).

  • Three original images I shot of the horse, sky and landscape blended into one. The sky was treated with speia tone. The landscape was treated with a gradient and speia tone. Very little enhancements on the horse to capture this beautiful portrait. Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now / My Bubblesite

  • This not a re-do of my original. I created a new scene with a different tree and horse and added lighting effects. The lonely horse and tree come together. • This was taken at my old house, which was located on about 100 acres, and it also had a 2 km long driveway, not a lie. I was walking down it to get the mail and decided to take a shot looking back towards the barn and house. I tried a new effect on it and would love to know what you think. Thanks so much for looking and commenting. =)smile

  • A peaceful look across the pond at one of the several barns at The Allandale Mansion in Kingsport, TN. Quite a few children and their fathers come here to catch the fish that await the next throw in. The mansion, however is an extreme hot spot for couples stage their wedding ceremonies with it sporting two gazebos, a garden and it’s exquisite foyer that boasts a marvelous photo opportunity for the wedding party.

The Fenland Trail in the morning affords a good opportunity to see wildlife moving around the marsh and river areas. This trail connects to the Bow River Trail which actually goes all the way into Banff townsite proper. If you have time, this is a nice easy walk to get to this area without actually having to drive to get to it. The Vermillion Lakes are slightly to the west of the Fenland Trail and you can either walk to them or drive your car and use the pulloffs available. It’s a bit noisy being so close to the Trans Canada Hwy, but the scenery more than makes up for it. Throughout the day you’ll see numerous waterfowl frequenting the area. The real draw, however, is in the evening when the winds are low and the water is still, making the lake surface a mirror reflection of the now beautifully lit Mt Rundle in the background. • Was going though my old images. This shot was taken two years ago and it caught my eye. As I started to play with it I couldn’t help but see the sad expression in this beautiful animal’s face as I cropped it. I used orton to just make it so soft and precious. I’ll have to admit, this is one of my favorite images and will probably hang someplace in our home. / / Hope you like!
