We were hiking along a snow covered trail in Jasper National Park (Alberta Canada) and came across this outpost. Just had to shoot it. Featured on the RedBubble homepage on Dec 24, 2008 Taken with Canon Rebel and Sigma 75-300mm lens

This is the old Westvale Barn… it was built over 100 years ago and was in use until only a few years past. Now it is scheduled for the wrecking ball. / / Canon 400d /
I finally found the tractor I have been looking for. I saw this old antique from the road and thankfully had my camera in tow. I braved the 3 feet of snow and frigid Newfoundland winds but I finally got my shot I’d been waiting to get. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /
Rancher checking horses in the barn before retiring for the night. / / Note: All my digital art work is executed entirely with my mouse and Photoshop Elements’ brushes. It takes hours of concentration, patience and self control. Especially when the mouse wants to go right and you need it to go left! When this happens , I reluctantly leave my office and go for a stroll in my garden. / That usually takes care of the problem and then, I get back to work :) /
Inside the old derelict stable i found at the weekend, seems to have been a shelter for sheep, judging by the amount of sheep droppings were inside!!
I wrote about this in my responses to both Antanas and Sylvia but there is more to tell about this. The old farm house that goes with this farm is gorgeous and is right out of frame. There is a reason it is not pictured….also right out of frame, on the left, some folks cleared that entire hillside of trees leaving this muddy, mucky mess. They’ve put a house there that is not terribly attractive but that is not the problem…they also have decided they are going to raise donkeys. They’ve put these poor creatures in these cages that look like large dog pens and they have them all over that grassless hill. When it rains all of the muck runs off the hill, across the road and into Bill and Leslie’s(who live on the farm shown here) front yard. It’s a mess and I wanted to tell you so that you wouldn’t think the entire area was this lovely and bucolic….just a few yards away are those poor imprisoned donkeys.
I found this horse while driving and decided to stop. He was every bit as cooperative as I hoped he would be standing proud in front of his property and home. Little did I know then that his mate was hiding around back or inside this little shed.
ok… for all you horse lovers. Just call me the horse whisperer from now on. Hope you like! p.s. I put this in the Humor Captured group, because I think it’s a funny shot. Don’t usually get horses in this position, plus she’s cute :-) See more of the Horse Images@
I captured this on a recent trip to a stable that rents horses for riding. This was my second trip and I plan to go back. 48 favs. Hope you like! See more of My Horse Images@

Three original images I shot of the horse, sky and landscape blended into one. The sky was treated with speia tone. The landscape was treated with a gradient and speia tone. Very little enhancements on the horse to capture this beautiful portrait. Hope you like! Add me to your watch list now / My Bubblesite
This not a re-do of my original. I created a new scene with a different tree and horse and added lighting effects. The lonely horse and tree come together. Hope you like it as much as my first one! Was going though my old images. This shot was taken two years ago and it caught my eye. As I started to play with it I couldn’t help but see the sad expression in this beautiful animal’s face as I cropped it. I used orton to just make it so soft and precious. I’ll have to admit, this is one of my favorite images and will probably hang someplace in our home. / / Hope you like!
