    by Christopher Barker

Vast rows of deciduous trees can be seen in perfect columns, displaying their autumn attire, at this tree farm in eastern Oregon. Tree farmers sow rows of trees in varying stages so they can be harvested at different times and therefore produce a constant yield to maintain a consistent gross.

  • D.C. Protest I
    by Christopher Barker

    US$3.99–US$91.20

During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, began to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. In relative anticipation of the police’s reaction, this young man wrote the telephone numbers of civil defense lawyers on his arms before the demonstrations even began.

    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

An old road sign riddled with bullet holes, apparently used for target practice, leans slightly off the highway near Balancing Rock in southern Idaho. This tourist stop has been heavily vandalized because of its secluded location and lack of state funding.

  • Uganda
    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

A little girl from Mt. Elgon, Uganda tells me with a smile in her native Lugandan language, not to take her picture. This village borders the initial hot zone, near Kitum Cave, where the Ebola virus broke out back in the late 60’s and continued to baffle scientists up until the last century.

  • Some Claim that Sweeney Todd was a real person, others call his story an urban legend. He was the demon barber who murdered his wealthy customers by slitting their throats while in his barber revolving chair, that makes them fall into the basement with their necks or skulls broken. Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime bakes the victims’ flesh into meat pies and sells them to other unsuspecting customers. / Sweeney Todd first appeared in a story entitled The String of Pearls, published in eighteen weekly parts, in Edward Lloyd’s The People’s Periodical and Family Library, issues 7-24, 21 November 1846 to 20 March 1847. In Stephen Sondheim’s 1979 stage musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, based on the 1973 play of the same name by Christopher Bond, Todd is reinvented as a tragic character driven by revenge rather than greed and whose real name is Benjamin Barker. Highly recommended the 1936 film version of the Victorian melodrama starring Tod Slaughter as Sweeney Todd and Stella Rho as Mrs. “Lovatt” and also the 1979 acclaimed musical adaptation of Bond’s play by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler starring George Hearn as Sweeney Todd/Benjamin Barker and Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett. / And of course there is the Burton version! / Inks, Pencils & Markers / ZOMBIE

  • Inspired by the cover art of a book called “The Living Dead” which is an anthology of zombie litetature by today’s most famous horror authors, incuding Stephen King and Clive Barker. / The original illustration is a painting by a young American painter, David Palumbo. / ZOMBIE Pencil, Charcoal & Inks.

As of October 2007 over 27,000 U.S. military personnel have been wounded in Iraq since the beginning of the war in March of 2003.

  • Burwash
    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

An old wooden fishing boat sits on the shore of Burwash lake in western Yukon Territory in complete dereliction. Years of use and the brutal weather has began to chip away at the many layers of paint.

  • Black Boy
    by LeeoPhotography

    US$4.32–US$98.80

A silhouette of a native Australian ‘black boy’ (Xanthorrhoea Quadrangulata) at Mount Barker Summit. The Black Boy is for me quite an iconic Australian Native. I have used earthy tones in the background to compliment it, and as a representation of some of the wonderful vibrant earthy colours of OZ.

  • D.C. Protest II
    by Christopher Barker

    US$3.99–US$91.20

During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, started to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. These demonstrators were pulled from the crowd, handcuffed and thrown on an awaiting Metro bus. No one was read their rights as bystanders looked on in horror.

  • Veteran...
    by Christopher Barker

    US$4.66–US$106.40

On a day that’s hard to appreciate, or even swallow down, the definition of a Veteran seems unavoidably linked with an older generation. I don’t feel like a Vet. My grandfather is a Veteran, myself on the other hand, I feel as though I fall into an undefinable category. Generation X who has become “Generation Kill,” and subsequently slips right back into society, undetectable. The pain, fear and horror of what we’ve gone through is repressed, so that we can move fluidly back into this madness we call America, and continue our lives. The transition is impossible and just like generations before us, we will never fit it. Self portrait. 1/30 sec. @ f2.8 with Nikon N90s on self-timed. ca. 2006
