Close up of gum tree – why do they keep within the lines?!
A nice Aussie outback scene. The location is about 45min drive north of Goondiwindi, on a back road through to Yelarbon. It’s all quite standard scrub the entire way, except for this one area of sand ridge with different vegetation. Quite nice to look at.
One of a series of ‘Floor Coverings’ from found Australian flora.
Snow Gums can show a wonderful range of bark colours. This particular tree was a lovely red. The patterns in the peeling bark gave the impression a large, clawed animal has been scratching the tree. ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

Paperbark gum tree, with bark pealing off, and squiggley lines made by insects under the bark. Green is from leaves I shot thru to add to the effect.
Enjoy!

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Tree Abstract Just one of the many Tree Abstracts I captured during a 4WD trip in the Abercrombie River National Park, New South Wales. Snow Gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora) Their bark is shed in irregular patches in Autumn, leaving a smooth white to yellow, olive-green or brown surface, occasionally with scribbly markings from insect lavae.

Early morning sunrays through the trees in our backyard (literally!). It reminded me of the arrival of some other life force.
Macro photograph taken from an Australian Eucalyptus tree. Please view larger for the full effect!!! This magnificent gum tree is wounded. It has a very large section of bark that is weeping sap that has become hard like toffee. This tree must be at least 20 metres tall. So with disease in nature there also lies beauty! This is straight from my camera with a little contrast to bring out the natural colours. The blue comes from a reflection of the blue sky, its almost like glass.

Under the bark of a pinetree, macro shot…...you certainly know that yummy and beautiful substance that we call in french…”Gomme de Pin” picked up by the natives to do all kinds of remedes and cures. It’s good for arthritis, colds, soar throught, the gum tastes much better when it’s fresh from the tree…I used to chew a lot of that stuff when I was young,it’s antiseptic and medecinal with no side effects…it can even reduce stress and it tastes very good…..nature is so surprising!!! /
The mist around the trees was so beautiful yesterday morning, and everything felt so peaceful, I couldn’t resist a couple of textures and overlays to help create the feeling. Original photograph with grunge texture overlay, colour and levels adjustments. Featured in Red Bubble Home Page, April 2009
