  • The River Thames Floods!
    by shall

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Mother Thames bursts her banks after months of heavy rainfall… what a beautiful spectacle she offers, the wonder and grace of nature. .. a formidable force indeed.. Her strength inspires me and her beauty leaves me breathless.

  • I started this painting many years ago and never finished it. I’ve been working on it recently and here it is; hence the date 2008 on it. My wife and I and our children spent a happy afternoon at Stoke Bruerne and even went on one of the barges. We passed the famous barge used in the English children’s TV series Rosie and Jim, which sort of dates this painting.

Each day’s a new adventure, / We don’t have to travel far – / If our hearts reach out to joy, / We can find it where we are. / Maybe in a tiny blossom, / Or snow falling from the sky, / For the world is full of wonder / If we look with open eyes. Taken Northant’s uk Jan 09 Nikon D90

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Ruins of a Huon Pine Barge ============================================== / Featured in the Top 10 of Rusty_Crusty_and_Falling_to_Bits / Challenge Nautical_relics ============================================== / The discovery of rich deposits of copper at Mt Lyell led to the establishment of the Mt Lyell Mining Company in 1892. / Teepookana was situated at the highest navigable point of the river, where the township acted as a port facility for the Mt Lyell Mining and Railway Company, and home to about 200 people, mostly railway workers. / Two steamers, the “Pioneer” and “Eagle”, and over a dozen barges, or “lighters”, plied the King River, carrying coal, passengers, goods and mail for shipment by rail to the copper mines, and copper for shipment from the Strahan port facilities. / Today, the ruins of two Huon pine “lighters” can be seen at the Fishermens Wharf, Strahan. • This is the second version of the image that I submitted four days ago. As I mentioned in the description of version #1, there were chances that I would still want to improve on it. Well I was not really satisfied with it and gave it another go. The long crossing through adolescence and into adulthood is not always an easy one. For many young people, it often seems like a neverending path, flooded with tears, a river of dark and murky waters ... The model in this shot is Abi, my RB friend Shelly’s beautiful daughter who is 15. She was photographed by her very talented mom Work uploaded for a challenge in the Collaborations group.               The challenge consisted in using one or both of the two / images on the left as a starting point to create something / new. monocotylidono   Shelly Hiebert               / I chose to use both images, but also to add a 3rd collaborator.   Vikram Franklin has kindly accepted to let me use this photo of boat, and I used a bit of sky to improve on the new version as well. / I also added some textures of my own, as described below:   This bit of agitated water was used mostly over the path. I simply copied a bit of water from the image below into a new document and distorted the perspective a bit.   One of my bad shots of a river. Nice to recycle into a texture! / Here is another photo of mine used as a texture:   I use this photo of the St-Lawrence river in the fog very often in composites. This time, it was used in at least 7 layers with various blending modes and opacities.   I thought that the sky needed something and a crying moon was ideal. I used a photo of my niece, added tears of blood and spherized it to create a moon. Played with the sky and shifted the thinning clouds to place the moon in a better position. Finally, I added a sheer layer of moon glow. • Auchlochan Loch
    by Tom Gomez

    US$5.32–US$121.60

This canal barge can be found in a man made loch on the Auchlochan Estate in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It can not go anywhere other than circle around the small loch, so in reality, it is an art object. Auchlochan is a pupose build retirement village and elderly care home. It has lovely gardens and several man made small lochs. Auchlochan means (the) ‘Field of the small loch’. The current lochs at Auchlochan are man made and no one knows where the original loch was. Some believe it was a reference to the River Nethan which meanders through the estate. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. • Sunrise And Rigging
    by Will Kemp

    US$6.65–US$152.00

It was a bitterly cold morning and i wasn’t going to go out. But i looked out of the window and saw the fantastic colours of the sunrise start to creep across the eastern sky – so i jumped on my bike and cycled as fast as i could, down to the quay, to take some photos. This shot is the rigging of some of the fleet of old sailing barges which are moored at Maldon quay.

    by Durotriges

    US$3.48–US$79.57

Taken from Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight, this picture is a scenic view overlooking a Thames Barge which has been run aground deliberately in order that the people on board can play on the sands at low tide. You can see No-Man’s Land fort in the background – a sea fort built in the middle of The Solent in the nineteenth century to guard against French invasion.

The bank of Sava river in Belgrade, Serbia. Whenever I dream about it, these are the colors I see, the cold air, and the frost. Everywhere. Everytime.
