This is our little chihuahua, Casper, in his favourite place (my bed). Trying hard not to wake up! This little fellow came to us as a rescue chihuahua after bad treatment (he was washed in a caustic solution to get rid of fleas, and hence had his skin burned …. but he is fine now). this image featured in the group Cats and Dogs, one per day in March 2009. Today we visited the Medieval Festival held at Gumeracha, in the Adelaide Hills. There were so many interesting people there, including this man, Keith, who makes silver jewelry and replica artifacts from the past. His particular love is viking history. He was dressed in period costume and his hair and beard were perfect – in fact he could have stepped out of a previous time. He was interesting to talk with, and kind enough to pose for me. I have layered his portrait with some textures to bring out the depth of the character in his wonderful face. Oh, and that is a great walking staff he is holding – a great weapon for defending yourself, if you have to! Canon 40D, Sigma 18-200 / various textures added in photoshop.
