A friend of mine has posted two of his fabulous paintings on RedBubble and trust me, you will want to check him out because his work is wonderful. He is an award winning and well established professional artist from Malta who exhibits all over the world. Besides his amazing paintings, he is also an avid environmentalist and makes the most remarkable sculptures out of discarded material particularly plastic water bottles. Please check out his work, you will not regret it: / Joseph Barbara

I am not sure how many know who this person is. She has been a ‘mainstay’ in the news field in the U.S. for many years. A hungry person, she has fed on the souls of many. Tonight, I watched her on Larry King Live. She is selling a book, an autobiography. I would not even think about buying her new book. On her interview with Larry King, she could not remember when her sister passed, nor her parents. She was guessing at the years, YEARS…..

I’ve been occupied with a lot of extraneous stuff bordering on nightmare—both work and home; it’s been a busy and distracting month that’s kept me from one of my favorite places on earth, RedBubble. I’ve been heartbroken not to be able to show good photographs of my paintings. My work is very painterly, lots of heavy pigment and brushwork that I’ve been unable to capture on film. I’ve been so especially unhappy about the Kipling portrait because it looks so much better than the photo I have up now, I think it was that straw and the camel’s back thing, and I haven’t known what to do. / Until Friday. / This weekend and over the next week, I’ll be uploading a lot of new photographs, chiefly because I have a fine digital camera now. For photographers here, it’s a Fujifilm E550 with a 7.2 zoom. I’ve been reading up on it and experimenting to figure out how to use it. The photos are really good. I can’t believe the difference. And you’ll be able to see the actual paintings I’ve done, not the ghostly or blurred or over-pixilated images that were all I could muster before. I’ve started to empty out my site, cut back by three pages so far, and I’m not sure what to do about removing the original posts because all the wonderful heartwarming comments are there. Didn’t care so much about losing the couple of thousand views, and mostly I tried to pick out the ones with few or no comments and no favorites. Maybe I’ll just make the old stuff unavailable for sale, and the new photographs of paintings for sale. Any advice will be appreciated. Then too, some of the earlier stuff looks good, the pen and inks are from a professonal service, and some have even sold. ????? Please forgive me for my absence, and failure to note all the remarkable work my RedBubble friends and compatriots are so darn good at doing. I’ve missed this place tremendously, and most especially the fine photography and paintings from people I’ve come to know and admire. I’ll be updating my own website, The Hawks Perch, aftter this; looks like I’ve got the summer’s work cut out for me. / The dust is settling. See you all soon again, and I hope you’ll have the chance to stop by and let me know what you think. / Best wishes to you all, / Barbara

Amazing, I get to see work from all over the globe and then when it’s bought, wow, even better. / My thanks to friend Cathleen Tarawhiti for buying a card of my On the Beach painting. I couldn’t admire your work more, so it’s especially wonderful. Total delight here, and that’s a lot of long distance glow you’ve provided Cathleen. So very pleased and proud.

Hello good buddies at RedBubble. I discovered some new FREE stuff to make movies with in my computer, called Windows MovieMaker. Then I had to find a place (free) to turn it into a format my computer would upload into what it calls flv format; it’s called VIDEOzilla. / So I did! / I’ve three little films up on my website, and I’d love it if you’d take a look if time permits and let me know what you think. / 1. THE HORSE WHO DREAMED / 2. TRIPPIN / 3. THE PAINTER’S LIFE / They’re scattered around my website THE HAWKS PERCH: www.hawksperch.com. / GREAT experience to learn all this new stuff. By the time they’re saved here and saved there, then transfered to a format my website accepts, they end up a little jumpy, so forgive the imperfections and halting images, but they were a hell of a good time in the doing. You’ll need to click off the website music to hear the video’s soundtrack. There’s a pulsing graph in the upper right hand corner for the music; click on it and it goes flat and mutes. Explaining my abscence, for which I hope I am also forgiven. / Best to everyone here. I miss your wonderful photographs and paintings and will be back to look at all the new ideas and directions YOU’VE heading in. / Best to all, / Barbara

Lots of serious fires just north and inland of where I live. South of San Francisco has had some bad burning for over two weeks along the coast, stopped then started up again. Mostly inland areas and mountainous, most of it caused by lightning strikes, one by a runaway campfire. The Indians Wildland fires and Ventana Wilderness fires have consumed hundreds of acres in beautiful Big Sur, threatening the famous Essalon Institute and exquisite coastline south of San Francisco and north of LA. 16 houses have been burned. Evacuations are underway. It’s rare in these parts, every ten years or so we get a doozy. This is feeding on underbrush that’s been accumulating over forty years and there’s a lot of it. The paintings I’d posted called Moonrise Cachagua and Cachagua Woods, well that Cachagua wilderness is being evacuated right now. Fires are along the ridges about eight miles from a number of my friend’s homes; about 20 miles from me. If everybody I invited over shows up it’s going to be a full house. The sky’s been smokey and red. There’s a relatively small population here, cowboys and waitresses, ranch hands, farmers, small business working class people and children and their animals and livestock. Homes built by hand in the nowhere out of nothing and sweat. There are a zillion postings on special sites for safe homes to run to, animal shelters and stables offered, food, trucks, and (it IS California) massage therapy for the fire fighters and emotionally strung out people and pets. The rest of us are managing but it’s worrisome. I’m already making lists in my head of what to grab. Who to call who has a truck….the big Blue Thunder’s gone and the jeep is tiny. My neighborhood has not been told to evacuate yet. I’m a great believer in group prayer and visualizing and I’d like to ask the RedBubblers for their artistic spiritual magic to stop all this stuff. It really is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I drove past some of the scarred black wounds on hillsides last weekend, enough to make you cry. More lightning is expected tomorrow and Saturday, not good. For the first time in my life I saw honest-to-God ocean TO cloud lighting strikes. I didn’t know it could happen in that order, but it did. I’m visualizing the fire absorbing back into itself and growing cold. A silent calm replacing hot crackle. The earth taking it back and squelching it the way a cancer is reabsorbed. The way film run in reverse looks. All green, bright, flowered land spreading over the fire and smothering it. Lots of water. Rainstorms. Whatever you’d care to do along these lines, I’d be grateful. I don’t want my paintings or anyone else’s to go up in smoke, or pets frightened, or livestock singed, or a single shelter, home or tree or shrub to lose its livliness. Thanks everyone. I’ll report back on the progress you and I have made in stopping this thing. If anybody has good magic in their hearts, it’s the people on RedBubble. / Love to all, / Barbara

Thanks to everyone here who sent psychic magic, the fires are changing course and THERE ARE NO LIGHTNING THUNDER STORMS EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND!! / I know you did that. God Bless. / There’s a teeny grocery store run by a caterer out in Cachagua. This will give you a feel for what the neighborhood’s like, such great people. There’s more on http://cachaguastore.blogspot.com, and it’s all worth the read. THIS IS FROM THE CACHAGUA STORE BLOG…....... / Meanwhile….the “Indians” is the name of the fire that started first. The Basin Complex fire is now thundering down on Tassajara from the west…...as the Indians Fire thunders down on Tassajara from the east. / Tonight as we were working Adam’s rehearsal dinner….a bunch of old school dozer guys came into the Store…...looking for some beer. / They had been working the Indians fire for weeks…...cutting firebreaks. They and all there equipment are up on Chew’s Ridge waiting to re-open the firebreaks from the ‘99 Kirk fire and the ‘77 Marble Cone fire. The firebreaks are in Wilderness Areas. The fire is now five miles from The Store, and seven miles from my house. The dozer crews cannot start work until they hear from the Bush Administration that it is OK to start work in the Wilderness Area. / In fairness…....they never got the OK in 1977 from Jimmy Carter…..or in 1999 from Bill Clinton. Neither of these weasel dicks were willing to violate the sanctity of the Wilderness to save homes and businesses. So….neither is GWB. / No matter. Eventually, the dozer guys follow the community lead and cut the fire break anyway. / So….when the dozer crews came into the Store in the middle of Adam Conway’s rehearsal dinner tonight….... feeling thirsty while waiting for approval to save all of our homes and businesses…...what do you think happened? / I’ll never tell. (This is one more, another entry about the wild condors who have been painstakingly re-introduced to the area….) Hey folks- The Big Sur fire continues to burn and is still threatening the / two coastal nest sites. The backcountry nest was burned over, but the / redwood nest tree and the grove still remain intact. It is still unknown / whether the chick survived the burn-over, but we have seen GPS data from / female #231 that shows she has returned to the nest tree twice since the / fire burned through. A fog layer moved in along the lower canyon areas / along the coast and has significantly increased humidity and slowed the / burning in the lower half of the canyons, which has been a real saving / grace for the two coastal nest sites. We currently have limited access / along highway one and we have been able to check up on these two nests / daily. If the fire gets closer to the highway, they may keep us out for / safety reasons. Pinnacles has offered up their red-card staff (Scott!) to / assist in the event this fire gets further down the canyons and starts to / pose an emminent threat to the chicks. Luckily, both nests are fairly / accessible from the highway and we should have a good window to get in / there at the current burn rate. / Sadly, we are still missing one adult condor, female #222. All of the / California field sites are on the lookout for her. She is the mother of / our Partington chick and was last seen on the day of the evacuation (June / 22nd). We are being very persistent with our daily headcounts and thank / everyone at the other field sites for their help in accounting for all the / birds. This is a very precarious time for the central California flock / and we hope our losses will be minimal. Access is still very restricted / around the fire, it could be weeks before they let us back in to assess / the damage. A big Thanks to all of you for your help and support, we / really appreciate it. I’ll keep you posted…Joe AND THE UPDATE WITH STATISTICS….... Total acreage burned in the Basin Complex fire: 26,763 / Percent contained: 3% / Expected containment: Not determined / Structures damaged/destroyed: 16 residence, 2 outbuildings. / Engines: 54 / Crews: 24 / Dozers: 9 / Air tankers: 7 / Helicopters: 3 / Total personnel: 743 Current situation: The Gallery Fire and the Basin Fire have burned together. The fire activity was relatively quiet during the night. However the fire is expected to burn actively today at elevations above 2000 feet. A wind shift to the S/SE has occurred at some elevations of the fire. Structure protection engines remain in place along Partington Ridge, the North Coast Ridge Road and Highway 1. Crews continue to hold the fire east of Highway 1 and south of the community of Big Sur. Evacuations: Evacuations remain in place in the Partington Ridge area. Should further evacuations be required the Red Cross is prepared to open an evacuation center in Carmel. The SPCA for Monterey County will operate an emergency animal evacuation shelter for household pets (dogs, cats, etc.) adjacent to any American Red Cross evacuation site. Please contact the SPCA first at 831-373-2631 or at 831-646-5534 (after hours) for information on evacuating horses and livestock. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS AND KINDNESSES MY GOOD BUDDIES ON REDBUBBLE. I LOVE YOU ALL. I THINK WE’LL BE OKAY. / Barbara

Big Sur is now under mandatory evacuation. It looks like it’s still the worst of the fire, that is, a threat to people and livestock and homes as opposed to pure beautiful wilderness. People are headed to Monterey with their cats and dogs and birds and horses and families to shelter with friends and in the local high schools, etc. / The firemen are acting like they should, bringing bulldozers in and cutting twice the swathe allowed to keep the fires from leaping. Cachagua is overrun with helicopters and personnel. Word is some part of California is getting help from Canada, thanks brothers and sisters! Smokey the Bear, the US national symbol to prevent forest fires and love the land, has a Big Sur composed mantra in his honor, being chanted far and wide. Can’t say we’ve lost our sense of humor. It’s actually on Wikipedia, worth a read, here it is in part: SMOKEY THE BEAR SUTRA Wrathful but Calm. Austere but Comic. Smokey the Bear will Illuminate those who would help him; but for those who would hinder or slander him, HE WILL PUT THEM OUT. / Thus his great Mantra: Namah samanta vajranam chanda maharoshana / Sphataya hum traka ham nam / “I DEDICATE MYSELF TO THE UNIVERSAL DIAMOND. / BE THIS RAGING FURY DESTROYED” / And he will protect those who love woods and rivers, Gods and animals, hobos and madmen, prisoners and sick people, musicians, playful women, and hopeful children. And if anyone is threatened by advertising, air pollution, television, or the police, they should chant SMOKEY THE BEAR’S WAR SPELL: DROWN THEIR BUTTS / CRUSH THEIR BUTTS / DROWN THEIR BUTTS / CRUSH THEIR BUTTS / And SMOKEY THE BEAR will surely appear to put the enemy out with his vajra-shovel. Now those who recite this Sutra and then try to put it in practice willl accumulate merit as countless as the sands of Arizona and Nevada. / Will help save the planet Earth from total oil slick. / Will enter the age of harmony of man and nature. / Will win the tender love and caresses of men, women, and beasts. / Will always have ripe blackberries to eat and a sunny spot under a pine tree to sit at. / AND IN THE END WILL WIN HIGHEST PERFECT ENLIGHTENMENT. / thus have we heard. / (may be reproduced free forever) Retrieved from “http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Smokey_the_Bear_Sutra” The End. SO California. And entirely Big Sur-ish. / There’s an exqusite Zen Buddhist monastary in Tassajara famous for its hot springs and contempletive ways. The fire’s not far from them now, lots of chanting going on. Big Sur hotels and resorts are closed, and with typical deep feeling for the masses most have laid off staff and said au revoir. Highway 1 in complete shut down for about a twenty five mile stretch. Esalen Institute in danger. Henry Miller library and home saved. I know most of the places intimately and cannot imagine them gone. It’s all steep canyon, ridged hills and bad dirt roads, so it’s a rough fight. Cachagua is looking okay still, maybe even safer. My friends can see the closest range top fires from their bed at night. Today the air was very clear here, totally blue sky and no soot. The mysteries of nature abound. Pray for rain. / I’m still very okay where I am, no indication it’ll get here, fire’s still about twenty miles away. I’ll keep posting updates, and thanks for your prayers and good wishes. / Smokey the Bear says thanks, too. / Barbara

We were given an evacuation notice yesterday night, only to have it reversed after an hour.. Not a very pleasing experience at midnight. So far the blaze consumed more then 8000 acres and some of our friends were already forced to evacuate. We’re still in an high alert zone. Managed to get some more pics as you can see here Last images from 7/3/08 were taken only 500-2000 yards away from from my home. As a photographer the light in incredible around 7 pm. One may have the feeling it is an alien / martial landscape. Sky are glowing orange and red and the white ash falling from above can be only described as a “dirty snow”. Streets are blocked by police patrol cars, and groups of people congregate with binoculars & cameras in areas where the fires can be viewed. I wish I could go for more photography, but it doesn’t sit too well with my dear wife… :-)) / News articles about the fire are here and here / Eyal

Amazing night. You can now see flames leaping hundreds of feet into the air on the first visible range in Cachagua, from the hill in front of the post office. That’s about 25 miles from town. Worry about the skillful jump ability of flame. / The sun was setting, a massive cloud of smoke over the valley lit bright pink, totally astounding. It’s getting closer. / We now have a full tent camp for the firefighters set up in the old Carmel Valley airstrip, 500 tents, men, equipment, kitchens, engines. Awesome. They’re great guys. Signs are appearing on fences “Thank you Fire Fighters!” / I went up at sunset. As it grew dark, lights on the camp grounds popped on illuminating the field. Neighbors drove and walked up with their dogs and kids. We looked at maps and got updates. People pointed, talked old stories, asked over and over if the guys needed anything. The community response universally so far is WE ARE SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE!! Zero sense of invasion or imposition. We may be getting national guard or army here too. It’s pretty intense. / So much of Big Sur burned, you just want to cry and cry. And so much saved too, very few houses went considering the size and ferocity of the fires. It sounds like all the resorts and beautiful places in Big Sur got saved, like Ventana, Nepenthe, Esalen, Deetjens, H Miller. Mostly from people refusing to leave and stamping out cinders falling from the sky with their feet! I know it’s going to be hard to look at again. They’ve let people go back to their homes and land, lifted the evacuations from there and Palo Colorado, which did not get burnt after all from what I understand. It’s a bit like hearing gossip and fiction with a bit of truth. All of it drama, some of it actually happening. / Regina and Pat on Tassajara Road have not evacuated yet. They watch the flames shooting off the ridges from their bed at night. Ty is holding firm in Trampa Canyon. Mike’s posting wonderful blogs on his Cachagua Store site with pretty much daily updates, news of crews coming in, feeding the fire guys, songs and beer and attaboys. We’re apparently getting about fifty volunteers from Australia and New Zealand. THANK YOU!! Guys here from Minnesota and New York and Oregon. It’s a thoroughly remarkable experience on every level. / Zero sense so far we’ll get evacuated from the Village, it’s still far from us. Depending on wind direction, you’re scared one day and calm the next. / Late afternoon and into the evening yesterday a huge wet fog moved in from the coast, and by nightfall had covered Carmel Valley. Good news, we were all glad to see it. The weathermen are all fucked up. Predicting heat waves and cooling spells simultaneously, reigning hysteria. Middays out here are hot, in the 100’s. / There’s a kind of stimulated kinship when you meet folks, everybody on a high of adrenalin and emotion, nobody knowing where this damn thing is going to move. Some said the shooting ridge flames last night were from the backfires being lit. They talk about our mountains as the place to hold the line, that ridge is where we make our stand, this canyon may go, that point is in danger, using names unfamiliar to locals….it’s like being in a general’s tent with warfare plotted out on maps. As Mike Jones said in one of his blogs, you get an intimacy and new respect for the land with the google terrain maps you haven’t had from living here. / We’re all in pretty good spirits it seems to me. While it’s frightening to think of the damn thing raging out of control and sweeping the whole central coast, it seems unlikely. I think they’re getting a handle on it, figuring out how to fight it. It’s rough terrain. But we’re strong. And, of course, you knew that. / Best to you all, and heartfelt thanks for your good wishes. / Barbara

They’re out. We’re in. All evacuees have returned home with their families, animals and surfboards. The sky is blue. Life is good. / I’ve felt like a giant crumb to have vanished from so many friends here for the past month plus, not much time except a fast leap in every now and then, and I miss you one and all. RedBubble has been a terrific place for friendships for me. Please forgive my absence from your wonderful lives. A couple of great things happening (is this post-flaming karma?) 1. I sold 28 tee shirts on Zazzle. I know, I can’t believe it either. One customer, no art work. Just MARS ROCKS in honor of NASA’s landing on Mars. A total stranger in Salt Lake City, different sizes, Black with red and white lettering. The bad news is that I’d put them on sale, and lowered the percentage to ten. Out of almost six hundred dollars in sales, I get about sixty. If only…....but then they’d might not have bought at full price. I almost passed out. THERE’S HOPE OUT THERE!!! Who’d have dreamed it, not me. 2. I got an actual portrait commission. Two people in a family. Incredible project for me and good pay for it. About four to six months of work ahead, about 7 feet by 5 feet I’m figuring. Photos and downpayment to arrive this week sometime, and yes I’ll be buying up RBers work. An excellent Brooklyn lawyer once told me not to count on anything until the check cleared the bank. I know it’ll happen. Why do I keep waking up in a cold sweat, then run to the post office filled with hope. Okay, filled with hope is how I do things, precipice or not. 3. A new friend has just put up some of her strong and beautiful artwork on RedBubble. I’m impressed. I think she’s very good, and you’ll profit from a visit to her page. She’s graysart. I hope that comes up in the search engine because I’m still no good at making links here. Most of all, the dust has settled, the red skies night and day are gone, the gorgeous firemen from all over the globe (Australia, Canada, Samoans! – THANK YOU) went home. Then some genius decided it was the perfect time to repave the only road into town. We’ve had enough. We want to be left alone to cultivate our gardens and suntans and smell the roses. Nearly every tree in town has a sign tied to it, drawn by some precious juvenile in crayon, that shouts out “Thank you Firepeople!” in a hundred colors. It’s very touching, really. They were great. / And by the end of the week I hope to at least get back into the swing of all things RB, and if not catching up on all the splendid work of those I so love here, at least starting in on your latest creations. / My best to one and all, / Barbara / PS check out graysart.

I’m so sorry that I’ve been neglecting redbubble and all of my wonderfully talented and creative friends here. I’ve been caught up in the drama of Mouse’s stifle problems, treatment and recovery…I hope fingers crossed!...over the last few weeks and I’ve been letting everything else fall by the wayside. / A few weeks ago, before my life got so complicated and stressed for a while, I read a wonderful book, The Gandy Dancer & other Short Stories, by redbubble’s own, Barbara Sparhawk. The book is available through amazon.com and I highly recommend it! I think the Gandy Dancer was my favorite story but the entire book was touching and entertaining. It offers snippets of Barbara’s life and her journey across country after she left a lucrative career in New York City to seek out life instead of fortune. Barbara is a unique and admirable non-conformist and she truly lives life and relishes every moment of it. I found the book so inspiring and I think it might just should be required reading for all creative souls. Barbara, gets Us, Barbara is an artist and adventurer and author extraordinaire. Read the book; you won’t be disappointed. ~Sande Barbara Sparhawk /

Take a look at some remarkable photographs of Iraq war, with so many of the world’s countries there now, by SSGT. He’s an American Marine, and he’s in battle, and he carries his camera with him….to everyone’s benefit. These are extraordinary photographs and well worth viewing and commenting on. And it’s a ‘real time’ view from the front lines. How incredible that is to me. / This is primo photo-journalism, picture-taking on the run. / Although I’m not a photographer, I know there are interesting things being done by SSGT with the kind of camera he uses, exposures, etc. It’s serious work, all very human, history in the making. / Please drop in and see yourselves. / Best to all, / Barbara

Ok.. I’m really happy, surprised and excited once more. Just saw that I’m a new challenge winner once again / This What Inspires you? challenge hosted by the Prize Challenges!! group is one that speaks volumes to me, and it seems that RB artists took notice of it. / The winning image Arlington West 2007, Santa Barbara, California portrays an ongoin display of the casualties in Iraq on East Beach in Santa Barbara, to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. This image was taken at memorial day 2007 as a tribute and memorial and as a cry for peace… Yes, I am inspired by dedicated people and their efforts to restore peace and humanity back… Thank you all for your support, votes and appreciation, and to the Prize Challenges!! group hosts for this wonderful challenge . It means a lot to me.

Refreshment… that is a large part of what the bubble is for me… from the inspirational artwork i look forward to laying my eyes upon each day, to the amazing support, comments & encouragement from fellow bubblers… there is always something here that makes me smile :) Today it was all about the people… The lovely Pip Gerrard still had my mind engaged with the wonderful journal she posted last night when, Zing! A bubblemail tip off that i’d been made a featured artist in International Superheroes of Drawing, Illustration and World Domination ... & she was kind enough to send me a link to the forum post where i discovered i have the wonderful Anita to thank for the honour… she truly is an International superheroe of drawing!!! Thankyou so much Anita, i’m stoked …big hugs!!! / And depending on your feelings about journals, you can thank or blame Anita for inspiring those too!!! / Not to mention the fabulous Journal Junkies girls, Barbara Glatzeder & Moonspiral who always put a smile on my face :) Then i found that my good friend Karin Taylor a constant inspiration, had posted a Buyer Booth photo of my work with the sweetest things to say… i swear there’s no cash for comment going on here! And then, to top it all off the amzingly talented & sweet Steph Granshaw posted Baby Blue My first look at this gorgeous piece she is so kindly contributing to the Mirrors, a charity event supporting the Butterfly Foundation & promoting positive Body Image & something i’m proud to be involved in the running of. I will be posting a full journal on the Mirrors Exhibition shortly… i have been so touched by the willingness of several other bubblers(you know who you are :)) to donate work to the event, without this sort of generosity from artists here on RB & in the broader community this event would not be possible… full details & big thankyou’s are on their way very soon!!! As soon as i make some inroads into my own paninting for the event! But for today, big thankyou’s to all the bubblers mentioned above… you made me smile & the red dust storm & 2.5 hours stuck on a train pale in significance. X x x

I just wanted to share a portrait that the talented Barbara Glatzeder made of me today. I feel a bit weird to have a self-portrait done (and flattered) but I think Barbara did a great job of it and I envy her ability to nail a likeness (which is something I can’t seem to get right whenever I attempt a portrait).
I am sure some of you all have seen this by now but for those who haven’t seen it yet, check out Moonspiral (aka Tammy)’s “portrait of me…
I am sure some of you all have seen this by now but for those who haven’t seen it yet, check out Moonspiral (aka Tammy)’s portrait of me for the Bubbler’s Portrait challenge As I’ve confessed before I can’t do portraits very well, so I am very impressed by how spot-on this portrait is. Even more importantly, I think the portrait feels like me and not just looks like me (obviously my hair doesn’t go into spirals like that, and I don’t have a pet raven (I wish!) BUT psychologically I think this feels like me). I’ve had other artist’s draw portraits of me before but I always felt like I was looking at someone else on the paper afterwards. This portrait is kind of creeping me out but in a good way lol. And in case anybody missed the other portrait of me, Barbara Glatzeder created another amazing artwork here
