I’m not sure how many of you know of the quiet and talented Adelaide Hills based photographer Barb Leopold and her photography – you should go investigate her portfolio – in particular Barb’s Iced Poppy series Barb has recently had her wonderful image “Light Through the Ice” published (near a full page colour image) in the April 2009 Edition of Digital Camera World – a UK based magazine – within the “Hotshots” section. Hopefully we will get to see this image on RB soon. Congratulations Barb.

  • My dear mate Shaz has recently given me a challenge – in the form of a new Lensbaby lens. Many thanks Shaz dear, here is the first of many (I hope) creative images using this nifty little piece of kit. It’s a little hard to get used to, after precise focussing of my other lenses, but it gives a wonderful softness and is adding a new creativity to my work… hope you like this image and those to follow. Canon 40D, Lensbaby, textures added in photoshop.

  • This is Miss Lizzi, world famous CATwalk model, who kindly posed for me when I visited her mum, Shaz the other day. Truly, Lizzi is an accomplished model, no pose is too much trouble for her. This one is called “Coy”. Canon 40D, Canon 60mm macro This image featured in Paws n Claws in November 2009. Thanks so much moderators!

  • We were at Hallett Cove beach, South Australia, the other night, escaping the heatwave, and taking photos. My husband Lance kept getting in my shots …. so I left him there. He too was trying to capture that perfect sunset shot. Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70macro, tripod, neutral grad filter, textures added in photoshop.

  • Sunset at Hallett Cove beach, in South Australia. Taken with Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70 lens, tripod and textures added in photoshop.

  • This flower, known as Love in a Mist, or Nigella, is flowering at the moment in a pot in the garden. It is such an unusual flower, I am enjoying photographing it. Canon 40D and Canon 60mm 2.8 macro, textures added in photoshop.

  • A bit of filtering on this surreal pair of street performers we came across in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall yesterday. They were more than happy to ham it up for the camera, and I thought a touch of extreme processing suited their pose and costume. Canon 40D, Canon 24-70L, topaz filter in photoshop. This image featured in Canon DSLR in November 2009. Many thanks moderators!

  • This one is for my friend Lee who has a taste for these delicate little cakes. I made a batch today, just making sure I remember how … and Lee, they taste yummy! Ricoh GRII compact, macro mode. Recipe: 1/2 cup plain flour / 1/2 cup SR flour / pinch salt / 3/4 cup icing sugar mixture / 4 egg whites / 100g almond meal / 140g apple puree / grated zest of one orange / 30g butter, melted / 100g frozen raspberries / extra icing sugar, to dust over, if desired Preheat oven to 200 deg C. Spray a 15 hole friand tin with cooking spray. Sift together flours, icing sugar and salt. Stir in the almond meal. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gently combine the flour mix with egg whites, butter, orange zest and apple puree using a metal spoon. Add in raspberries and stir lightly. Do not over-stir mixture. Spoon mixture into friand pans. • Greetings of the season to all my redbubble mates, thanks for your wonderful support this year, and thanks too to those generous folk who have actually purchased my work (especially my cupcake tee!). • Adelaide zoo has recently become home to a pair of pandas, and these are the only two in the southern hemisphere, so we feel pretty special down here in Adelaide. I visited the other day and tried to get some images of the pandas, however there were awful reflections on the glass, not to mention crowds of people doing the same thing as me, so I was lucky to get this shot, through glass, of the boy panda, Wang Wang. He is four years old, and will be ready for breeding next year – hopefully! Canon 40D, Canon 70-300.

  • This is Mr. Snowy, my gorgeous Ragdoll friend who lives in Sydney. Every time I visit, he kindly lets me do a photo shoot, and this time posed himself on a chair by a window, where the light was perfect for illuminating his soft fur. Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70macro. This image featured in Cats and Dogs in December 2009. Many thanks moderators!
