  Today is a special day in the US. It’s snowing here in North Carolina, but you can still feel the excitement and electricity in the air. It’s been building since the election. The US has had a very tough eight years. Some of it, probably most of it, we brought on ourselves, but today things will start to change. I’m sitting here watching TV news with tears in my eyes. Barak Obama has given us all hope. It’s about a five hour drive to Washington from Chapel Hill. The trains are booked full. The black churches are taking bus loads of their members to the inauguration. Many of the blacks that my husband works with are going and taking their children so that they can be there when our first black president gets sworn in. It’s energizing. We have a long way to go to try and correct just the mistakes of just our recent history. It’s a process. However, I’m starting to feel that given time, and it may take years, we may emerge as a leaner and healthier country. All of you from around the world. Wish us luck as we try to redeem ourselves.
