The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

Mother nature presented me on a last October evening with one of those sunsets that you can hope to see just once a year if you’re lucky. / High layers of scattered clouds, a pure, clean atmosphere and the fact that at the end of october the twilight lasts almost a hour, all this elements contributed in producing a stunning natural show. I was initially going to use a roadmap from a part of Israel…but then I figured it would better to use Texas! Just not sure why? hmm…hehe Road map for peace The “road map” for peace is a plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict proposed by a “quartet” of international entities: the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations. The principles of the plan were first outlined by U.S. President George W. Bush in a speech on June 24, 2002, in which he called for an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace: “The Roadmap represents a starting point toward achieving the vision of two states, a secure State of Israel and a viable, peaceful, democratic Palestine. Wild American kestrel (Falco sparverius) in flight, stooping from left to right (Taken at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area, 5 miles southwest of Columbia, Missouri). Perhaps the most colorful raptor in the world, the American Kestrel is the most common falcon in North America. It is found from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, and in towns as well as wild lands. Identifying marks inlcude small size, rufous back and tail, and two dark mustache marks on face. Male has blue-gray wings and a lightly spotted chest and belly. The larger female has rufous wings barred with black, and streaking on the chest. This particular bird is a female. Their call is a loud series of “klee-klee-klee” notes when excited. As with many other raptors in North America, their population n umbers dramatically declined in the 1950’s and 1960’s, but have increased greatly in recent decades with increasing deforestation of North America. They are aslo commonly called Sparrow hawk. Although hover-hunting is conspicuous, this foraging method actually is used rather infrequently. It is used most often when suitable perches are not available, or when winds are strong enough to create updrafts favorable to hovering. In winter in many southern parts of the range, female and male American Kestrels use different habitats. The female uses the preferred more open habitat, and the male uses areas with more trees. This situation appears to be the result of the females migrating south first and establishing winter territories. The males then are forced into the less preferred areas. Nestling kestrels back up, raise their tails, and squirt feces onto the walls of the nest cavity. The feces dry on the cavity walls and stay off the nestlings. A friend has a large garden and always plants a steep bank of poppies at the end of it. I took quite a number of photographs of them a couple of years ago, this one was with the tripod set low and looking up at them and chose a very small aperture to get as much detail as possible. / / Nikon D100 / F32 for 1/40sec / Tamron SP90 1 : 1 macro lens

Just love the River Murray and the starkness of the willow trees lining the banks in this spot create wonderful silhouettes at last light. Do you know the relationship that you are all looking for? Do you know what it really is? You want the relationship between you and you. Because now you have an opportunity to work on the relationship that really matters first and foremost. And then, in that connection, the relationship of your dreams will come. But you are going to discover the relationship of your dreams is really your own Inner Being. It’s that infusion of clarity and confidence and wellness, that’s what you are reaching for. “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn! Another of the beautiful features of Noosa Heads, is Weyba Creek and Lake Weyba. Just before the Noosa River exits to the Pacific Ocean, there is a offshoot called Weyba Creek. This feeds from Lake Weyba, nestled in the Noosa National Park area, Queensland, Australia. These river systems are all part of the Noosa Biosphere, and are home to many species of bird and animal life. Much of it, untouched by man, which is the way is should stay… Canon 50D, 16mm, 5:00pm. I shot the original version of this image a number of years ago… back in my “film” days! (I can’t wait for the day when my daughter says to me “Daddy tell me again how you used to shoot film…”) This path is located in Battery Park City next to the Hudson River-just a short distance south of where the World Trade Center used to stand. I always liked the composition of the original shot but felt it was slightly lacking in mood and atmosphere. So into the world of textures I went. I wound up using a blend of two separate textures for the final image. One of the textures is my current favorite “Of Corpse Not” from Skeletal Mass on flickr. Here’s a link to the texture One of the wonderful advantages of working with texture layers is that they can add so much emotion to a photo. This shot was taken right about dusk and the textures suggest the peace and tranquility of that time of day. I also like the fact that even though the park is fairly modern this scene looks as though it could have been snapped a hundred years ago. / /
