Captured this scene while crossing the Charles Bridge in Prague, heading to Prague Castle. During the day Charles Bridge comes to life with all sorts of artists, painters, performers and the like, a really neat place to visit. Charles Bridge crosses the river Vltava (Moldau), construction began in 1357! I can only highly recommend a visit to Prague, if you ever get a chance. I hope to return here someday for an extended photo safari. This is an HDR image, taken with my first DSLR, the Nikon D50 coupled with a Tokina 12-24mm lens and Feisol carbon fibre tripod with Gitzo head. My art with 1000+ views
new orleans, la., usa 2008 / mamiya, film i seldom, pose anyone, i cant stand the idea,... yet while visiting new orleans, this fellow came walking up, and i knew i wanted his photo, that he was it for the morning photo journey. i talked to him, and as most homeless guys he was not so interested in having his photo taken, i assured him he would never be seen, yet i would capture something important that he was, and that i saw….. he agreed to let me try, i turned him away from me, and had him lean against the pole…. it worked for me, and him… i thanked him and gave him some $$ for his time and trust…. this was one of the few times i was glad to have digital, so he could see what was going to be done, had been done…. i also shot this with b/w film , 120mm, mamiya….. only 5 prints will be made.

I dreamed I sent an email to a broken hearted female / Cause I’d met her in a forum on redbubble months ago
My apologies to Banjo Patterson for this less than serious rip-off based on and including tracts from his classic Australian poem Clancy of the Overflow Although it’s silly it holds some truths, particularly the concept of communicating with and becoming close to people on sites like this but feeling hamstrung when it comes to offering them any real physical support when you know they’re feeling down or doing it tough.
Street Photography I had planned this project several months ago, fall of 2008 to be exact. I wanted to go downtown and take portraits of people in the streets. People who casualed the downtown or street performers, commonly known in these parts as “buskers. I was a little apprehensive about approaching total strangers and asking them if I could take their portrait. I wasn’t afraid in a physical sense but uncomfortable about how they might react. I had to come across as professional, calm and respectful. My initial apprehension was overcome by a conversation I had earlier in the morning of the first shoot. While on one of my photo excursions around the city I met up with a gentleman I had met only a week or so before. He is a retired firefighter and loves to talk photography. I told him about some of my projects, this one included and he told me he had been in an local office only two days before and was amazed to see portraits on the walls of street people who frequented these same streets when I was a boy 35 and 40 years ago. I remembered at least two of the names, one of which was “Bucky King”! How nice was it that someone at the time had the foresight to take those portraits. But’s that all gone now and there is very little record of it! We were both excited and it brought back childhood memories for us both! There was a lot of character in those faces! If I didn’t do this maybe no one else will? I decided to head downtown and give it a go! I decided to use a technique of portraiture that Stanley Kubrick used when a staff photographer with LOOK magazine. Kubrick would shoot these portraits from a low angle, looking up at them; the intent was to raise their status! I was considering doing this in black and white because it seems that many (some would say all) a great portrait was done in black and white! But I decided to stick with colour and make it work the best I can! Any and all monies made from these images will be donated to charity! Thank you for viewing! When other freak shows tell you they’ve got a dog boy, what they really have is just a hairy little kid. For the Kludge Brother that just ain’t good enough so the boffins at the KB institute created Doug. A real life half human, half dog, 100% bluegrass banjo playin’ fool. Critics have claimed that creating Doug was cruel, that putting a small boy and a dog together in a box and then bombarding it with electricity and particles of PURE SCIENCE is just wrong. The Kludge Brothers invite to come along and see for yourself. Forget the phonies Doug is the real thing. T-shirt Other Kludge Brothers acts / Kludge Brothers Calander /
The bluegrass festivals around my area are held in the HOT HOT Texas summer time. This digital piece is inspired by the hot (but fun) festivals. :) This art work has been FEATURED in the “Southern Style, A Downhome Perspective” group…...AND in the “Inspired Art” group. :) Here’s how it looks matted & framed: / Created with GIMP software.
I grew up around bluegrass music and although it’s not something I listen to a lot, I do enjoy it if the musicians are really good and the song is upbeat. (plus my husband plays a banjo and several other instruments) lol…... Here’s how it looks printed as a POSTER: /
