It has been suggested that the original thank you cleveland design should be available with a nice chunky white outline so it can be purchased on a black t-shirt – the only colour any self respecting rock pig would be seen dead in. I’m kinda liking it on the new yellow too! Thanks to Kara for pointing this out!

This is the neon cuckoo bee (Thyreus nitidulus). drinking nectar from a lavender flower in rural Victoria, Australia. This species is counterpart to the blue-banded bee (Amegilla cingulata). (I was lucky enough to get a photo of that one, too!) Both are native to Australia. Both are solitary - in the sense that they do not form colonies with a queen - but a number of bees may build nests close together (I’m not sure if they build them adjacently or not). The cuckoo bees - as the name suggests - lay their eggs in nests built by the blue-banded ones. The cuckoo young eat the food stored by the blue-banded bee, leaving the blue-banded young to starve, and earning themselves the label ‘kleptoparasite’.

Matryoshka Family in the Pink is a pop-art collaboration of some fine art and digital manipulation. The original matryoshka on holiday was created using a mix of media including ink pastel acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. I cut the doll herself out of the painting and gave her a new background in photoshop just repeating the same matryoshka and making smaller replicas of her !
