Band playing in the Red Carpet Lounge of the Pitts Motor Hotel in the 1950’s. “In the sixties, the Pitts Hotel was a showplace, and Cornelius Pitts was one of Washington’s most successful black entrepreneurs. His hotel attracted not only tourists and traveling businessmen but local customers, black and white. They lined up at the Red Carpet Lounge, which featured valet parking and a maitre d’, to listen to the likes of Aretha Franklin. “The place stayed packed,’ a former regular said. “The drinks weren’t that high. You didn’t feel like you were getting ripped off. The music was great. And the minute you walked in, you felt comfortable there.’ This photograph is copyrighted by Aladdin Color Inc and can not be reproduced in any way. Bonnie was laying down with one paw on the bass..maybe she wanted to play a song for us? :D
This was my dad’s guitar, he bought it in 1974, he passed it down to me when I was 15 and learning to play. Now the guitar belongs to my little brother, since I don’t play anymore.. / I uploaded this photo for a selective coloring “red” challenge. *All proceeds of sales are donated to the Hope Animal Shelter Please check out my other gallery here at RedBubble, Macabrecat , for my cat photography. Top of the game and a total sellout , Makes you think would you sellout when offered big $ $ $ maybe
I heard these parody lyrics once on radio or TV about 15 years ago when I was quite young. Then one day when the ACDC song (It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll) came on I innocently sang the sausage roll lyrics. My brother was in hysterics which in turn put me in hysterics. I don’t think I can ever remember laughing so hard!! We laughed until our stomachs were in agony and tears were streaming out our eyes! A very wonderful memory. This image was inspired by the music of Nano Stern (from Chile) – Uplifting and inspiring, his music and lyrics imbue ‘the elements’. / I chose to depict Nano’s guitar with wings, because his music just takes you away to a special place! If you like the image, check out his music / www.nanostern.com Nano is touring Australia in March & April 2009! / And he tours the globe extensively…
“Rhythms of the Heart” Inner rhythm keeps time… / music flowing… / internal. / external. / Sounds branching out… / Inspiration poised / to take flight. ((Details: Image created in photoshop, abstract/visionary/surreal/digital art tshirt design by Leah McNeir, 2009. This design features the silhouette of an acoustic guitar with a treble clef emblazoned on the guitar body, a raven clasping a musical note, and our inner metronome- the human heart, branching out like a Celtic Tree of Life’s limbs & roots, with color details of veins as in a circulatory system resonating the rhythm of life. )) / Thank you to all who voted in the MUSIC MACHINES challenge held by Redbubble and DEMO! ‘Rhythms of the Heart’ has come in 3rd place in the public voting portion of this challenge! Thank you all so very much for your support! Congratulations to everyone who placed in the top 20!
