  • Haley, my golden Retriever, has several toys but the red ball is her favorite. The only time she wants to put it down is when she eats! / I have been having some action/focus problems and trying to work them out with the help of Haley. She is very well trained and will sit until I am in position with my camera and ready for her to run toward me. We have done this repeatedly during the last few days in the front yard. I couldn’t ask for a better model! / THe first day I tried it, I had both dogs in the yard. My other one, who isn’t so well trained, mostly just got in the way or ran in the opposite direction so decided working with Haley only was much better idea. /

Their mother is Bela and he father is Troy. / Taken with Sony Cybershot 25 April 2009 The Rottweiler, or Rottweil Metzgerhund (“Butchers Dog”), is a “medium to large size, stalwart dog” breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is a hardy and very intelligent breed. Rottweilers also worked as draught dogs, pulling carts to carry meat and other products to market. “Rottweiler breeders aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.” The Rottweiler was kept busy in these traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. Although there are still Rottweilers working stock all over the world, many other roles have been found for this versatile breed. During the first and second World Wars, Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including as messenger, draught and guard dogs. Currently they are often used as search and rescue, assistance, guide dogs for the blind, guard and police dogs in addition to their traditional roles. Although an extremely versatile breed used in recent times for many other purposes, the Rottweiler is first and foremost one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of herding breeds. A multi-faceted herding and stock protection dog of exceptional ability, it is capable of working all kinds of livestock under a wide variety of conditions. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestors of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman droving dog, local dogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherlands. This region eventually became an important cattle area, and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both driving and protecting the cattle from robbers and wild animals. However, by the end of the 19th century as railroads became the main method for moving stock to market, the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil. • This is Lon, Ball and Porge who were three of the original squirrel members of the famous group The Animals. Eric Burden thought they were too hairy on stage so he sacked them and they then joined a small group called the The Beatles along with the forth member of the band called Bingo. Although their names suited the band they sadly left shortly after because they didn’t think they would do any good in the world of pop music. So now 40 years on (and don’t they look great for their age) they are back and their group is now called; The Hairy Fur Balls Bingo decided to work in the world of TV as a narrator for Thomas The Tank Engine series and did quite well from it. I found the three of them rehearsing a little number called Nutbush City Limits by Ike & Tina Turner within the grounds of the Forty Hall Estate which is in Enfield, England.
