There are no real beaches in Cala’n Forcat, Menorca. This is what mostly passes as a beach. But then, who needs a beach when you have sheltered little coves like this. The flat rocks are a perfect place to soak up the sun. Menorca is one of the Spanish Balearic islands, and lies off the coast of Spain in the Western Mediterranean. Nestled in Tramuntana mountain range of Mallorca largest island of the Balearics and incredibly popular holiday destination spot lies the town of Valdemossa. The main part of the town is above this section which is from where I took the picture. Its streets are filled with oranges and it was here that Frederik Chopin and his lover George Sands spent part of their Winter in Majorca of which Sands wrote the book of the same name. / Mallorca has been trying to change its image of sun, sea, sand & sex unsuccesfully for some time but there are a multitude of cultural and sporting events on the island that run through the winter time so you can spend your own winter in Mallorca.

Ciutadella Harbour. The harbour, a narrow inlet, is one of the smallest ports in the Mediterranean. Here, sitting in good company at one of the harbourside cafés, you can experience what Menorca is all about. Relaxed and bathed in sunshine, watching the boats bob up and down and the people strolling by – the worries of the world vanish. Ciutadella, an historic town, was originally named by the Carthagians, who called it Jamma, and was the original capital of Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain until the British came along and moved it to Mahon in in 1722. Taken on an evening stroll on the salt-lake or lagoon on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Formentera. It is still a relatively quite tourist island, as you can only reach it by flying to Ibiza and travelling on by ferry or your private yacht:) / / Location: Estany des Peix, Formentera, Spain. / Camera: Canon Ixus 500 / My Nikon D70 went on strike on the very first morning of this holiday in 2005;( The shutter jammed! I got it repaired under guarantee but that was no consolation on this tiny island. To save the holiday we took a day trip over to Ibiza city to buy a shoot-and-point digicam. Postpro in CS4.
