10×14 watercolor enhanced colored pencil. The original is available. Please contact me for further information. / Double portrait of the American Bald Eagle. Although called a bird of prey, the eagle is an oportunistic hunter and not above eating carion. Doesn’t set well with the image, does it. / I call myself a wildlife artist but I won’t do “fins”.. fur and feathers are fine.. just can’t get into fish. Completed 2007
A captive Bald Eagle from Bald Eagle Days in Rock Island, IL. The Eagle was from a bird center in St. Louis, MO. I LOVE Bald Eagles! I am fortunate to now live close enough to 2 rivers where I can go view them in the wild proudly soaring overhead.

November, years ago, near sunset at the Chilkat River, where around 3000 bald eagles congregate to feast on a late salmon run. It was a slow year when I went; there were only about 600 eagles. The sun came up at 10am and went down around 2:30, and did a little arc in the southern sky when we could see it at all. It was a great trip and I’d love to go back now that I have more skill and better gear.
The sky is the playground for the powerful Bald Eagle. They own the heavens! By Val Brackenridge Check out these amazing Eagles battling it out for ownership of being on top of the world. This is my Eagle Wars video filmed and created for your enjoyment*
The American Bald Eagle is by far the most symbolized bird of prey that has ever existed, thus my objective was to simply take a photo to which would accurately depict the defining characteristics as to why this is so. Although it took many, many shots, I believe I successfully captured what I was trying to convey: strength, vision and nobility of what is the American spirit. – Dennis
here is the male, smaller than previous shots’ female – they were both here all day fishing, although I didn’t capture them with a catch. Photo is as is, except for resizing ;) Shot at our home at Wind River Ranch, Naches, Washington – a free bird of prey! Hopi Eagle Dance
Some more experimental stuff… / Thank you for viewing and I hope you enjoy my simple experiment!! :) / Taken with my Panasonic Lumix camera and edited with ACDSee Editor! Photoshop coming soon, hopefully! /

Went for a walk today…to clear my head…lots of yucky stuff going on….I found a HUGE Bald eagles nest, thanks to a very close friend who took me on private property…I was so very lucky to get shots of Dinner being brought to the nest…Although I don’t know what the prey is…It seems to be some kind of large chick, or it could even be a human “offering” of a chicken…it has been known to happen around here..on Vancouver Island….
Went to go spend the day with Storm, Hank and Shaya today….and as luck would have it… / Hank decided to go for a bath….Oh my gosh…was I lucky or what??? / The white you are seeing in Hank’s eyes is something called a nictitating membrane. This eyelid is transparent, and sweeps across the eye from side to side. It grows in the inner corner of the eye, right next to the tear duct. This is a protection against getting any water, blood, etc in the eye…So all my bath pictures have Hank with his nictitating membrane. Nothing is wrong with his eyes at all…
yesterday brutus and i had some running to do, since we were in the area of this beautiful waterfall only seemed fitting to shoot it once again. was alittle worried the time of day might not be good since the sun stays over this for most part of day. / this is bald river falls, about 50miles south of me around tellico plains. located in the cherokee national forest / well worth the drive down there / best if viewed larger Shot this in SS mode / SS set at 1/6 (smart to use a tripod with speed this slow, well unless you’re tolerant of blurry shots) / F stop at F/25 / ISO set at 100 / Focal Length at 33mm / Exposure comp at 0
Please meet Manwe…My new friend…and, as luck would have it…he also decided to take a bath, just like my dear Hank…Only..Manwe..really really knows how to plunge…what a guy…and I feel pretty damn lucky to have such fine feathered friends…. I am so excited to announce that this photo is being published in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC! It will be in February 2010 issue…YAY!!! such an honor

I could see this juvenile eagle from my bedroom window in the early morning overcast light. I quickly dressed and hoped I could get to her with my photography gear. I was in luck, she was still sitting on the beach log where I first saw her. With my longest glass on a monopod, I moved slowly while she watched me suspiciously. I had her in focus, and just loved how the overcast light created definition and great background. I snapped away, but she was not happy by my presence, and after looking me over, decided she had enough pictures taken, and left. Nikon D300, Nikkor f4 600 mm AFS lens and 1.4 teleconverter, on a Gitzo monopod, ISO 320, f5.6, 1/640s. Click here to listen to this eagle.
This is the second image in a series of photos on the fledging of young bald eagles at a nest on the Fraser River in Canada. In this image, one of the two eagle siblings is pictured on a “practice flight” around the nesting tree. For a view inside a different bald eagle nest (live web cam) situated in Delta, and possibly to hear the young eagles, click on this link. Image captured with a Nikon D300 and Nikkor f4 600 mm lens on a Gitzo tripod, ISO 400, -0.33 EV, f9.0, 1/800 s.
