  • 10×14 watercolor enhanced colored pencil. The original is available. Please contact me for further information. / Double portrait of the American Bald Eagle. Although called a bird of prey, the eagle is an oportunistic hunter and not above eating carion. Doesn’t set well with the image, does it. / I call myself a wildlife artist but I won’t do “fins”.. fur and feathers are fine.. just can’t get into fish. Completed 2007

  • A captive Bald Eagle from Bald Eagle Days in Rock Island, IL. The Eagle was from a bird center in St. Louis, MO. “A believer is a bird in a cage, a freethinker is an eagle parting the clouds with tireless wing”Robert Green Ingersoll Quote —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— Picture / Make: SONY / Model: DSC-H2 / Date Picture Taken: Jan 12, 2008, 2:44:01 PM / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Cassie Peters. • November, years ago, near sunset at the Chilkat River, where around 3000 bald eagles congregate to feast on a late salmon run. It was a slow year when I went; there were only about 600 eagles. The sun came up at 10am and went down around 2:30, and did a little arc in the southern sky when we could see it at all. It was a great trip and I’d love to go back now that I have more skill and better gear.

  • The sky is the playground for the powerful Bald Eagle. They own the heavens! By Val Brackenridge Check out these amazing Eagles battling it out for ownership of being on top of the world. This is my Eagle Wars video filmed and created for your enjoyment*

  • The American Bald Eagle is by far the most symbolized bird of prey that has ever existed, thus my objective was to simply take a photo to which would accurately depict the defining characteristics as to why this is so. Although it took many, many shots, I believe I successfully captured what I was trying to convey: strength, vision and nobility of what is the American spirit. – Dennis

  • On a brisk winter day, a Bald Eagle rests on a sunny Maple branch. Every few minutes, he switches resting legs and gives them a good stretch, before tucking that one up into his feathers for a rest and warm up. The Bald Eagle has up to a seven foot wing span. They are one of the largest birds of prey in the world. Adults are 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall and weigh 8 to 15 pounds. Like many predatory birds, the female is larger than the male ( about 1/3 larger), but size cannot be used conclusively for identification. Photo taken with canon 40D and Canon EF 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS L lens. Taken in Raw and edited in Lightroom2. Taken on Dec 28/08 at 12:50 pm. 1/200’s at f/11, 400mm, Kelvin 6250

  • Bald eagle, goin in for the kill…oh well…he has to eat too…

  • Went to go spend the day with Storm, Hank and Shaya today….and as luck would have it… / Hank decided to go for a bath….Oh my gosh…was I lucky or what??? / The white you are seeing in Hank’s eyes is something called a nictitating membrane. This eyelid is transparent, and sweeps across the eye from side to side. It grows in the inner corner of the eye, right next to the tear duct. This is a protection against getting any water, blood, etc in the eye…So all my bath pictures have Hank with his nictitating membrane. Nothing is wrong with his eyes at all…

  • Please meet Manwe…My new friend…and, as luck would have it…he also decided to take a bath, just like my dear Hank…Only..Manwe..really really knows how to plunge…what a guy…and I feel pretty damn lucky to have such fine feathered friends…. I am so excited to announce that this photo is being published in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC! It will be in February 2010 issue…YAY!!! such an honor

  • The Bald Eagle is extremely sensitive to human activity, and is found most commonly in areas free of human disturbance. She was calling for one of her kids that was flying around, and within a few minutes the young eagle showed up and they flew off.Captured in Charlotte County, Florida at a Wildlife Management Area early in the morning. American bald eagle / canon 5D mark ll / canon 400mm / ISO 200 1/640 f/5.6 /

  • I could see this juvenile eagle from my bedroom window in the early morning overcast light. I quickly dressed and hoped I could get to her with my photography gear. I was in luck, she was still sitting on the beach log where I first saw her. With my longest glass on a monopod, I moved slowly while she watched me suspiciously. I had her in focus, and just loved how the overcast light created definition and great background. I snapped away, but she was not happy by my presence, and after looking me over, decided she had enough pictures taken, and left. Nikon D300, Nikkor f4 600 mm AFS lens and 1.4 teleconverter, on a Gitzo monopod, ISO 320, f5.6, 1/640s. Click here to listen to this eagle.

  • This is my all time best selling image and winner of the 2008 camera club show. 8 mature and 1 immature bald eagles sitting on the old cruise ship dock.

  • I know…another eagle! But i have soooo many :)

  • When there’s a good breeze coming down the harbor the eagles will glide on the wind and it looks like they are hanging in the air, it makes it easy to photograph them as well.
