  • This looks like it came straight out of a model train set… except its a bit bigger and has a blue car at the base, with a wombat on the steering wheel!!!

  • Some of the mountains surrounding the township of Kandersteg in Switzerland. Just a trainride south of Bern. / Imagine camping here for 2 weeks in July with thousands of others from all over the world!! It was an incredible time!! / I was here for what the Scout Association calls a ‘World Moot’. Like a jamboree for scouts, except it’s for rovers (18 to 26 year old scouts). We had many adventures and also heaps of fun!!!

  • The picturesque township of Leukerhad is nestled inbetween these mountains that stand more than 3500m high. Behind me, all the way back down at the base of the mountain is the town of Kandersteg… at least we had footpaths to follow!!

  • We spent 3 magical days backpacking at Havasu Falls, one of the most beautiful place on our planet.

  • In Zion National Park, Utah, USA

  • First morning at Havasu Falls. This was one of our most memorable backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon, USA.

  • This was my first attempt at long exposure star trails while backpacking through the Eastern Sierra Nevadas. Davis is one of my favorite lakes in the Sierras to photograph, even dispite the MILLIONS of misquitos that inhabit the many meadow ponds around the area. I was covered from head to toe except my hands to take pics, and ended up with almost 20 bites on each hand. f/3.5 10 mins ISO 200 ........ / All images are © Nolan Nitschke. • “When you were running / along that freeway to no place.. “ / Read the Beautiful words by Nicole Ryan / . / . / . / . / .

  • Inlet Hill from above. This is taken at low tide, which means a lot more of the sand appears. / This picture is taken on a simple Sanyo portable camcorder, with picture mode.

  • I really saw this dog in Santa Fe, New Mexico (twice in a matter of two days in two different locations). I was happy I captured this one. It made me smile.

  • Whenever you backpack in the fall in California’s High Sierra, you run the risk of an early snowstorm. The snow had fallen hard weeks before we arrived at this location in Desolation Wilderness – on the southwest shore of Lake Tahoe. It was mid-October, and a dusting of snow proceeded our mid-morning backpack. It was quite a sight to look through the evergreens toward the ridgeline and see the snow and all the fall colors.

  • Peru’s Machu Picchu, the final stop on the Inca Trail.

  • Horton Lake in the Eastern Sierra backcountry, Ca. All content & images are © Nolan Nitschke. You may not use any images in any way without written consent from artist. All Rights Reserved. www.nitschkephotography.com

  • ‘nil fhios agam’ is the irish for ’ i don’t know’. when someone asks you what the words on your t-shirt mean, you can say ‘i don’t know’......

  • Taken on the East Coast Trail. / 100% natural light.

  • Translation: / “Pardon me miss, I’m new in town. Which way to the feeding frenzy?” / “Down the street and to the left, you can’t miss it.” /

  • Welcome to Tahoe’s Desolation Wilderness – my family’s favorite place to go for a weekend backpacking trip. This was taken at the summit of Dick’s Peak. Dick’s Peak is a 9,974 ft mountain that rises right at the middle of Desolation Wilderness. Albeit a bit challenging to get to, especially if you decide to take a “short-cut” straight up slabs of rocks, the peak offers some of the best views in the entire wilderness.

  • A pin-up from my forthcoming 3rd volume of Stark Reality

  • Love to be a backpacker by David Petranker / . / Walk don’t run / Run don’t stroll / Look behind not forward / Look forward not behind / Run don’t stroll The mist is behind / The mist is infont / The mist is on the left side / The mist is on the right side / Run don’t stroll Hop in the car / Don’t hop in the car / Stop the car / Don’t stop the car / Run don’t stroll Say hi to Ivan / Don’t say hi to Ivan / Bolt don’t run

  • 3200 ISO is a brave new world for me. As a self confessed low ISO junkie, one who used Ektar 25 film whenever and wherever he could for many years because I wanted tight grain, the tighter the better, I would pull out all the stops I could to use that amazing ISO 25 film! For sure I’d never gone above ISO 1000 and then only to shoot indoor sporting events. Low ISO was(?) a hang-up for me! But I wanted to try astral photography and high ISO can get you there! However as we all know high ISO leads to increased noise which is something fairly new to me. You can use software and Photoshop plugins but I’ve been considering, one way to control noise would be to minimize or eliminate it by keeping the ISO as low as possible and that’s one way I‘m leaning. So in that regard it looks like a fast 50 prime is in order! It’s fun to be experimenting and learning, eh! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 3.5 / ISO Speed 3200 / Focal Length 18.0mm / Flash at 1/16 power and about 12 or 13 paper towels for diffusion. “One Night Under the Milky Way” was shot at Flamber Head on Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr

  • This is a shot I took after shooting One Night Under the Milky Way I brought the ISO down from 3200 to 100 of course I had to compensate by opening up the shutter for a longer period! That night, Monday July 20, 2009, I was out about 3 hours and I could see this bright object just above the horizon to my left and in what must have been about a 2 hour duration is had only traveled about 15 or 20 degrees in the sky. I’m not completely sure but I think it is the International Space Station and that night it had the Space Shuttle docked to it! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Firmware Firmware Version 1.0.2 / Shooting Date/Time 7/21/2009 12:29:44 AM / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1462 / Av( Aperture Value ) 4.0 / ISO Speed 100 / Lens EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS / Focal Length 18.0mm “Star Trail” was shot at Flamber Head on Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage

  • Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/45 / Av( Aperture Value ) 8.0 / ISO Speed 100 / Focal Length 28.0mm Taken on August 30, 2009 as Tropical Storm Daniel passed through! For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr
