  • Pisaq, Cusco – Perú - / I met those two little girls from a little village near the ruins of Pisaq, close to Cusco. / At the beginning they were a bit shy and they didn’t seem very keen to be photographed. / But I gained their trust after chatting a little bit.. and I managed to take a few pictures of them.

  • LOS GRANDES MAESTROS DE LA MUSICA

  • acrylic on canvas

  • Ever dreamed of sneaking away to a quiet, tranquil spot…lush vegetation, hearing the sounds of the forest and spending the day relaxing, reading a good book and having the most yummy picnic? / Well here is a little oasis I created. It looks a lot like an area of New Zealand called the Marlborough Sounds. What childhood memories are made of. The old bach (or crib)...simple holiday home with comfortable but basic living conditions. Getting away from the rat race.

  • A memorial I made for Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich after his passing.

  • Torksey Castle is a wonderful old Tudor ruin. Dating from the 16th century it was the manor house of the Jermyn family. Little is now left except the grand facade, with it’s lofty towers, and aspect over the River Trent. There are very few alternate angles that look quite as good, so it was a case of taking the ‘classic’ view and trying to do it better! Luckily for me, the very heavy frost and low raking sunrise enhanced an already magical location.

I am inviting you to hear this music… I have inserted two links… both related to the extraordinary aria of the Passion after St. Mattew of J. S. Bach….in one there is a testimony of a soul explaining why this is so important for any of us… and the other is the extraordinary version with the subtitles in English / Please…. do listen to them… if you have got the time… or reserve it for any occasion when the light is dimmed… the thoughts uncompressed in a almost quenching heart… and your Spirit tender and volatile as the air we breath. • Acrylic on canvas 10×10 inches Many of us have had the dream… alittle place far away from the rat race and crowds of the city. A place on a small grassy knoll over looking the ocean. Being lulled into a peaceful sleep by the wavesat night and seeing the sun rise and set over it. This is my idea of a ‘little place by the sea’ an old sofa on the verandah to relax on and read, the sound of sea gulls as they glide on the wind currents, some small boats to take on little adventures with friends, a sanctuary. I am painting a set of 6 small 10×10 inch canvases for a forthcoming exhibition called ‘Small Packages’ which will run in November at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, Auckland. The theme is open and all artists are from the NZ Art Guild. All paintings will be the same size.
