  • By The Reichstag, Berlin one overcast friday morning in April. They were oblivious, besotted. I was about 4 or 5 metres from them taking shots of people crossing on a suspended walkway between two lagre government buildings. I swung my lens around more than a couple of times for some candid photography. They really were oblivious, bless ‘em. A question – do people in love always close their eyes just before they kiss like here?

  • The miraculous mother and child connection. This project was done in two sessions. Before and after birth. / The baby in the image is the actual newborn at 1 week of age. • Emotive piece of art drawn in Graphite Pencil…L K Southward- Iconic Art UK Nominated for ‘Pay it Forward’ by Andy Mueller IPA “I have so many favorite works of art on the bubble that it is tough to narrow it down to just one. But every time I see this one, I know it is the one piece that triggers the most emotion out of me. So, I’d love to submit my Pay It Forward to a wonderful British Artist L K Southward and her graphite pencil drawing called “This is your son”. Every time I see this drawing, I have tears welling up in my eyes. It is such a strong piece of work, and she clearly is a very talented artist.” Featured in the group THE EEG on 9th May 2009 Featured in the War – lest we forget group for the 141st Memorial Day (1868-2009) Featured in the Pencil Drawing group on 13th September 2009 Original drawing sold on 29th April 2009

  • I have been so touched by how many people have responded to this image. I already uploaded it for a clothing design so now I will offer it as prints, posters, and cards. This work is very close to my heart, both because of the plight of our world’s Polar Bears and also because I know the power of a mother’s love. Lyrics by Bob Marley… / “Dont worry about a thing, / cause every little thing gonna be all right. / Singin: dont worry about a thing, / cause every little thing gonna be all right!”

  • / I used candlewax, few different sized black marker pens, retractable pencils, charcoal white and black, ink and pastels on a small piece of timber to create “Happiness Always”......and that’s what I wish for everyone…. happiness always it could be for a newborn baby, just cheer someone who’s a little sad, or for a birthday ~ wishing someone happiness always is just a nice thing to do any time of the year :)

  • click feature buttons to view group/challenge / — / Koalas are at home at Cape Otway and as you drive in to, and out of, the lighthouse grounds there are many koalas in trees…and on the road! I snapped this mother carrying her baby after we nearly ran over them when we pulled over so I could get out and take shots of koalas in trees! I hadn’t seen koalas in the wild since I was a kid, so I was so excited…that I forgot to pay attention to framing or depth of field or anything technical (hence the massive crop…). The koalas along this stretch of road must be used to stopping traffic because after this shot was taken, she crossed the road, stopped in the middle of the road, posed (yes, posed, like in this picture!) for a few photos before running into the scrub. So, this was part of our road trip from Melbourne to Darwin via the Great Ocean Road and the red centre. This was about the seventh day I had my new DSLR (Nikon D90 – Tamron 17-50mm 2.8). UPDATED PIC: have adjusted the levels for sharper image. — / Other images taken in the Cape Otway Grounds / Click images to view / - / N.B. The feature logo was prepared by me but inspired by a design originally done by Natalie Perkins / -

  • This was the first time I had seen a beluga whale – in a theme park in Japan and it had a more than passing interest in a baby as its mother had tapped on the glass to get the whale’s attention. I think they both got a little more than they bargained for :o) / Full frame – no crop, no colour edit.
