The Kirkwall Ba Game is one of the main annual events held in the town of Kirkwall, in Orkney, Scotland. It is one of a number of Ba Games played in the streets of towns around Scotland; these are examples of traditional football games which are still played in towns in the United Kingdom and worldwide. The two sides are the Uppies and the Doonies. Originally the side any individual played on was decided by whether he was born up or doon the gate, but with recent housing developments, this tends to be decided by family loyalties nowadays. Which side ferrylowpers (incomers) and people from the isles or rural areas take is either determined by the route taken on their first arrival in Kirkwall, by family influence, or by the side their friends play on. http://www.acornconcepts.com / http://www.virtualorkney.com

Another of the Beautiful Anonymous (BA) pieces. This one was done with traditional mediums that I scanned and put together digitally. The girl is completely black biro pen (I know there are a few big fans of that sort of drawing out there) I so greatly adore this one. Hope she might spark a bit of adoration in others too

For this. Its a little thought that i had about the heartbeat being one of the first sounds in existence… referenced a little with the Ohm’s down in the corner. (In this sense, inanimate objects could also have a ‘Ba’, a unique character, and indeed Old Kingdom Pyramids often were called the ‘Ba’ of their owner). Like a Soul, the ‘Ba’ is a part of a person that the Egyptians believed would live after the body died, and it is sometimes depicted as a human-headed bird flying out of the tomb to join with the ‘Ka’ in the afterlife. 23rd January 2009

Trawling through my old shots again!!! A few years ago we travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia. This shot is taken from Cat Ba island in Halong Bay (Vietnam) where we stopped for a few nights. Vietnam is a stunning country full of wonderful buildings, friendly people, wonderful fresh food and a relaxed way of life….bliss!!
