  • Healesville, Victoria, Australia. I spotted this while driving along a country road. Stopped the car and trampled / fells down a steep, wet gully to get here and snapped away.

  • This picture was taken at the same place as The Long Way Home but about 7 months apart. Best viewed LARGE

  • Enjoy!

  • Shot at Mt Wilson. / Special thanks to a good mate, Ken Lees, whose help with this shot was invaluable.

  • autumn colors in the forest

  • Lone figure walking into the shadows…...

  • The painting is based on a photo I took on Dartmoor a few years ago. The light was fantastic and I’ve expanded on that to create this vibrant landscape.

  • Winner of the Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club Art Show, photography section 2009. Since exhibiting this at the art show I’ve had many people tell me they are very familiar with this corner of road and never seen anything beautiful about it before. It is very gratifying to hear that they now look at this part of the world with different eyes. This image was taken at the suggestion by an acquaintance (thank you, Keryl) when I was telling her about my water project (to photograph local bodies of water). Being that there is little about, puddles are a bit of an oddity, but this morning’s wonderfully special light helped to make this image (in my opinion) exceptional and I’m quite excited about the result. It raises thoughts in my mind about the concept of alternate or parallel universes being linked by a reflection, kept apart by a fragile, gossamer field. This image as is. There has been no alteration to colour, not even cropping or rotation adjustment. Taken in Woolpack Rd, Bacchus Marsh / 22 July 2008 / Looking towards the Avenue of Honour.

  • It’s noon in October and I’m glancing out of the window from my house in Bath, looking at the sky. There isn’t a cloud in sight; no good for a landscape shot; there is no drama; no mood. But that’s okay; I’ve been waiting for a day like today for two weeks now; guaranteed light at sunset filtering through the trees of a beech avenue I remember from my childhood. As it turns out the only difficulty with this shot is getting a clear road; a little more patience required; I’m not known for being patient, but when outdoors I guess I’m a different person. I’m using a polarising filter to saturate the autumnal colours. Wth perfect side lighting twenty minutes before sunset, it’s an agonising six second exposure; will a car ruin the magical tranquility of the shot. No. Not this time anyway. Et voila… Technical Details: Aperture – F16.0 / Exposure – 6 Secs / Focal Length – 82 mm / Camera – Canon EOS 40D / Lens – Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L USM / Filter – Polariser / Location – Wimborne, Dorset

  • If you have the time – use the “view larger” option – I hope it’ll be worth your time :-) Nikon D80 / 105mm AF-S VR Macro / SB-800 used to backlight this.

  • A bend in the road between Penola and Millicent, Limestone Coast, South Australia. “A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.” Anon. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens, converted to B&W in Photoshop CS3.

  • Quite an amazing avenue of trees in Cambridge, England. I took the shot of the green-covered trees and speculatively went black’n’white and was quite impressed at the almost perfect division in the photo : dark trunks vs white, Bright sky vs dark. The only minor issue – somebody had parked their RED BMW right in the middle of the path. Sure, you can edit these things out, but come on. In my world, wearing or dumping anything red in a tourist zone is a capital offence. No offence 8)

  • Taken on a recent trip to Port Arthur – my most favourite place in the world so far. This is the avenue that leads to the Port Arthur church, otherwise known as my sanctuary :) I have visited Port Arthur many times, however this was the first time I have seen it wearing it’s autumn colours. So very beautiful…

  • Last night I showed this image to a friend who said it looked like something out of a storybook, so I thought it would be fun if we could write a shared story to go along with it. I’ll start off in the first comment, everyone please feel free to add a little more :)
