Taken on the trail to “The Basin” on Friday October 3/08. Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens. / The Basin is a naturally occuring granite bowl in the White Mountains range and is part of the Franconia Notch State Park, located in the heart of the popular White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire USA / On this trail are cascades and waterfalls leading to The Basin, which is believed to have been eroded 15,000 years ago while the North American ice sheet was melting. The Basin has been smoothed by small stones and sand, whirled around by the Pemigewasset River. / I didn’t make it as far as The Basin this time (have been there in the past), because I was caught by surprise in an unexpected downpour. I quickly shoved my camera into the case and wrapped my sweater around it. Then looked for my friend Wanda who was nowhere to be found. She had made it all the way to The Basin ahead of me. I was lucky to find cover under the roof of an outhouse at the beginning of the trail. It rained and hailed for about 20 minutes. When my friend Wanda made it back, she was soaking wet. This is one of two shots I managed to get. ! A memorial. The focus is a bit off.. A well. Naturally occurring dew drops :) I was walking home from the bus stop with a friend, and the gutters were lined with leaves. This leaf covered with dew drops stood out to me, so I carried it home precariously and made my friend wait for me as I took pictures! / As is.

Created in Ultra Fractal 5.01 This fractal reminds me of those golden days of autumn, when the countryside wears a new dress, and coloured leaves have me reaching for my camera! The wind blows, a shower of golden leaves fall to cover the ground with a glowing carpet of color. Wonderful images to treasure, and light one through the dark winter! /
