When we arrive at our cabin up in the mountains, the first thing I always do is open all the curtains on that wall of glass so I can see our magnificent view. Our first snowfall last year included the sight of this lonely leaf, and simply captivated me. I would like to dedicate this to my dear friend Colin, Arrowman, who made a special request that I upload this one!!! Thank you, Colin!!!

Every once in awhile there comes a day in which Mother Nature can’t seem to be able to make up her mind. This was one of those days … the golden leaves were still on the trees when we had a beautiful dusting of snow … then out came the sun! Camera used Nikon D40x with the 18-200mm Nikon lens. Shutter speed 1/250, aperture f/5.6, exposure 0.00, iso 200. Post processed with the Orton Technique, some leaves embellished with brushes from Obsidian Dawn .

First snow this year Photo made in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands – Crown Domain Het Loo Where I live, the snow didn’t stay longer than a few minutes, so I had to travel a few hours to make these pics… The public transport was all messed up because of the first winter-weather, but brought me finally into winter-wonderland… I think this journey was well worth the effort :) ... Autumn comes to the Grand Tetons. My son, Sean, and I were traveling north on 9-27-2007 and arrived here at just the right moment. There were a ton of photographers here, as usual. I took a ton of pictures and got this shot after a tripod guy got out of the way. Taken hand-held with my Canon EOS-1D Mark III camera and Canon EF—24-105 L IS lens. 940 Views as of 11-05-2009.

Mount Shuksan is in the North Cascades National Park, Washington State, USA. / This part of the USA is known as “The Pacific North West.” We arrived here good and early, before the crowds arrived, and since there is a highway running all the way to “Artist Point” it can indeed get busy , I guess owing to the fact that it is easily accessible from the Seattle region, straight off the Interstate from Bellingham, an easy drive of less than two hours, and not too remote, / I spotted some postcards and tourist brochures with a variety of images of this scene, and determined to see it for myself. Glad I did. I would love to see this when snow blankets the ground ! “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” JOHN MUIR Shot on a CANON EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto wb, 18-55mm lens, / set at 18mm, RAW file, processed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw then CS3, usual levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour, Intellisharpen used. A surreal depiction of shoes for all seasons.
I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it ! He gave us a lot of good shots, I will say that! Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado Minolta 5D & Tamron 200-400mm lens
Mount Fitz Roy is in Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina on a beautiful autumn day. I forgot to take my Grad ND filter so this image is made up 4 images covering the dynamic range of the scene and then combined in Photoshop. Lots of masking and adjustment layers and time. It was still snowing when I left the Vet’s in Owego, NY and all they had was a dusting on the ground. I capture this image after I crossed the New York line into Cadis, PA. One hour later most of it had melted away. State College had 8” of snow and it’s a record breaker for this time of year. Way to early for snow. I started off at four in the morning over Hansens Peak,it was seven degrees below freezing, the trail was covered in snow and the ground water had turned to black ice. I made it in position just before sun up having slipped over twice…...loved every second of it.
