  • Mother nature presented me on a last October evening with one of those sunsets that you can hope to see just once a year if you’re lucky. / High layers of scattered clouds, a pure, clean atmosphere and the fact that at the end of october the twilight lasts almost a hour, all this elements contributed in producing a stunning natural show. • As a landscape photographer I am always in search of new interesting spots to depict. That’s why I travel a lot, when I can. However, I do believe that photography belongs more to how you see, than to what you see. With this in mind, I try to take advantage of any opportunity nature present me with, and I often realize that I don’t really need to travel a lot… This meadow is right outside my yard gate. I took this picture on last October, on a fresh early morning at sunrise, while some mist in the distance was spreading the dawn light tinging the sky with beautiful warm tones. Hope you enjoy this picture, thanks for dropping by. / Paolo

  • This is my interpretation of the “Third Sorrow” of Ted Hughes “Seven Sorrows of Autumn”, which on the surface appears to be a sad poem but I think it’s really a paean to autumn....see the Fourth Sorrow below Watercolour on Watercolour on DrawMaster Paper FEATURED IN JPG CAST 0FFS / MORNINGS AND EVENINGS..SUNBEAMS AND STORMS / INSPIRED ART The first sorrow of autumn / Is the slow goodbye / Of the garden who stands so long in the evening- / A brown poppy head, / The stalk of a lily, / And still cannot go. The second sorrow / Is the empty feet / Of a pheasant who hangs from a hook with his brothers. / The woodland of gold / Is folded in feathers / With its head in a bag. And the third sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the sun who has gathered the birds and who gathers / The minutes of evening, / The golden and holy / Ground of the picture. The fourth sorrow / Is the pond gone black / Ruined and sunken the city of water- / The beetle’s palace, / The catacombs / Of the dragonfly. And the fifth sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the woodland that quietly breaks up its camp. / One day it’s gone. / It has only left litter- / Firewood, tentpoles. And the sixth sorrow / Is the fox’s sorrow / The joy of the huntsman, the joy of the hounds, / The hooves that pound / Till earth closes her ear / To the fox’s prayer. And the seventh sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the face with its wrinkles that looks through the window / As the year packs up / Like a tatty fairground / That came for the children....Ted Hughes / The Fourth Sorrow

  • Featured Photo in Eric and Jen’s Eyes group for the week of 11/21 thru 11/28/09 Best on Full Size it really is When I first began taking photography seriously … and believe me, as much as I joke around, I do take it seriously … someone gave me a wonderful bit of advice: “always turn around.” And in the case of this particular image, it couldn’t have been more wise. I had been chasing the “sunlight-through-autumn leaves” look all that afternoon … and without a whole lot of success, I might add. At one point, I happened to glance back over my shoulder and snap this image … and a couple more for good measure, of course. But it wasn’t until I got home and loaded it up that I realized how much I liked it. Hope you do too. Image taken off of Church Road, Howard County, Maryland. Handheld image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, uv filter … not sure if the cp filter was on or not. Shutter 1/250, aperture f/8.0, exp. -0.33, iso 320. Cloning of evil telephone pole and wires then off to Photomatix with three images at +/-2 evals, then back to Photoshop for a light, light Orton and a hint of texture.
