“Which one is prettier?. Which one has the most intricate design?. Which one is redder?. It is impossible to talk in superlative terms when each pumpkin is of extreme beauty and originality. / / This vast array at a farmstand made me spend hours rejoicing in the striking beauty of these simple yet graceful round, whimsical plants.” / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. I never lure my animated subjects to come close to me: spontaneity is the key. / / This is an original uncropped image. / / /

The ubiquitous fagus caught last week on the shores of Lake Elysia in the Labyrinth, Du Cane Range Tasmania. Generally they are at there autumn best over the ANZAC day weekend but I was fortunate enough to find a tree whose leaves were just starting to turn. Deciduous plants in Australia are extremely rare so this one tends to garner an almost religious following each autumn.
