Saltspring Island, just off Vancouver Island, is a peaceful spot to go to simply enjoy the beauty of the water, the sea birds, and the fir trees. And the Northwest’s plants are in their glory there! This watercolor painting is of one of the very colorful rhododendrons we found there one spring. “Autumn Gold” is its actual name. This image is available for purchase as a print and can be obtained by contacting me through Bmail. Painted on Arches 140 lb. cold press paper, using primarily Daniel Smith watercolor paints, along with a few from Winsor & Newton. Below are the photos and paintings on my new 2010 Redbubble calendar: / Painted on Arches 140 Cold Press, 8”x 12”. I use Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors and a few of Winsor Newton’s.
The reflections turned out really cool on this one… Gave it a tint in Photoshop also
Don’t eat them… haha…. This is growing in my front yard, but I have no idea what kind of tree it is. It has pretty blossoms in the spring though. Enjoy!
I love the changing of colours during autumn. This Impressionist digital painting (Corel Painter) was inspired by the beautiful maple tree as it changed colours. Another fallen leaf with raindrops- not the usual golds and reds- this is soft greens and pinks-not sure which tree it fluttered from! / Taken with a Fuji Finepix Compact Camers cropped in free download of Picasa 3 Featured in ‘Rain Drops and Water Art’ – November 2009 / Top Ten Place in ‘The Single Leaf’ Challenge – for the ‘Weekly Theme Challenge’ -November 2009
A scene I have often passed by, but either the light was wrong, or I didn’t have the time. / On this occasion, things fell into place, except for the fact that I had left my tripod at home !! DOH !! (on a shopping trip for provisions to Fort William !) / It is a hand-held three shot hdr, because of the extreme lighting. / Loch Lochy is reputed to have a “monster” like Loch Ness ! Shot on my Canon EOS50D, iso 100, auto wb, three RAW’s at -2EV, +2EV,0EV, hand held braced against a bush for added stability, Canon 17-85mm IS lens set at 53mm, f11, processed in Photomatix, then Adobe CS3, with colour adjustments, and more selective levels / curves.
