I am proud to unveil a new painting from my studio entitled, “Segawa Kikunjojo II”. (Dancing The Part Of Yamauba) My painting is styled after ancient (1760 era) Japanese Graphic art, by artists like Tori Kiyomitsu Ga and Eshi Tori Kiyomasu Hitsu and based on paintings like, The Autumn Moon Above Ishi Mountain and Segawa Kikunojo II, Dancing the Part of Yamuba. / This is the first in my study paintings of ancient Japanese artwork. It was a very intense and rewarding piece to work on. Every line and brush stroke needed to be calculated and yet also flow with an ease and grace. This is my first original painting in a series of many I intend to delve into over the next year. / I am very drawn to Japanese art and grew up with traditional Japanese artwork in my home. The beauty of this type of art has always captured me, as I hope my work will for you as well. Here are some photos of my art as it is being created and completed…enjoy! xoxo

This painting has turned out to be a real favourite, in that since it was posted, it has racked up a whopping 759 views, 40 favouritings, 131 comments, Challenge wins and countless features, and now these two new ones…it was painted on the spur of the moment and I can’t remember the inspiration for it, but I do remember liking it right from the start, and I am totally flabbergasted and pleased at its success. It is part of the series “Trees“ / Autumn Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, / Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; / Conspiring with him how to load and bless / With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; / To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees, / And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; / To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells / With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, / And still more, later flowers for the bees, / Until they think warm days will never cease, / For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells... First I would like to take this opportunity to once more thank all those who support me and my work with your wonderful comments each and every day…it is such a fantastic morale boost…feedback on my written work is really valuable as it helps me to decide which articles resonate the most….it is also extremely gratifying that group hosts continue to feature my paintings… / To all those who are new to my work and who have placed me on their watch list, I am now configuring my gallery in a different way…the overview page now reflects the colours of fall, as that season is current where I live…you will see paintings that reflect the season, showing the colours and related themes of fall, but you will also see work that simply echo the wonderful range of gold orange and yellow shades that is autumn…work that you may not have seen before are now grouped together with new work and will be changed frequently… as a result the overview page will often show some surprising combinations…. / So from now on the first few art pages will be themed….that means new work may not always show at the top of the overview page, though I will try to keep them there as much as possible...
