These make excellent birthday cards ! I am designing 12 images based around the months of the year and the old Celtic luna months. They will reflect the changing of the seasons and the ever turning wheel of the year, the magic and mystery attatched to each part of the cycle and any special festivals falling in those months. My bicycle trip last Saturday morning to ´s-Graveland gave a number of great opportunties to enjoy the interplay of light and mist in a beautiful early autumn surrounding. WHat particularly drew me to this scene were the patterns of light and shadow on the rocks and leaves. Taken on an Autumn afternoon in Jacob’s Fork River, South Mountain State Park, NC. Figuring out a way to get from one slippery and mossy rock to another in order to take the photo was a real challenge too-especially carrying tripod and camera equipment. / Nikon D50, 42mm,F22 ,2 sec / /

This first anniverary on Redbubble (please see my latest journal) should not pass without the submission of a fitting picture, I feel. What could be a more fitting shot that one of a characteristic old tree, preferably in a misty context? Fortunately I have found this shot of another old beech-tree in my collection. May you like it as much as you have some of my other tree shots before. I took this autumnal shot on a lovely misty day last October. The tree is rather hidden, but in the mist it comes out reasonably well against the number of younger trees behind it. Again this is a tree with a long story. As other old trees it has seen so much more happen in its surroundings that what we experience in our comparatively much shorter lives. I give it 120 to 150 years, but can be wrong of course. Perhaps it is even older than that. Just imagine what has happened during this span of time. If only it could us about it all. We would have to listen for hours, I suppose. Image taken at Triadelphia Reservoir off of Route 97 in Montgomery County, Maryland, October 26, 2009. Nikon D300 with the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens; UV and CP filters; hand held, shutter 1/100, aperture f/10.0, exp.0.00, iso 500. Post processing included hdr at +/- 2 evals in Photomatix from a single hand held image, and a very faint texture layer.
