Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. A Japanese maple tree from the Portland, Oregon Japanese gardens.

Morning fog lies rises from the valley floor covering nearly, a couple of ridges dotted by golden larch trees emerge.

This is one hell of an old Japanese Maple. It was brought here from Japan around 100 years ago and planted in one the Dandenong Ranges oldest gardens.

As the water passes by me so does the Autumn season. By the time I am able to return to this spot the colors will have mostly been blown unto the winds. Seasons pass so quickly, much as our lives if we live for today and not for eternity.

The second in the series of Moon shots. This one is a small lake in the Gnoll park local to where I livein Neath. Again I used lots of saturation and dodge to get the vivid colour and gradients over the sky to turn day into night. The moon I added using layers this time as I wanted it behind the trees. Hope you like it. / /
