This is a pastel drawing I did a few weeks ago. Gold Dust / Tori Amos Sights and Sounds / pull me back down / another year I WAS HERE / I WAS HERE Whipping past / the reflecting pool / me and you / skipping school / And we make it up / as we go along / We make it up as we go along You said you raced from Langley / pulling me underneath / a cherry blossom canopy / Do I have / of course I have, / beneath my raincoat, / I have your photographs. / And the sun on your face / I’m freezing that frame And somewhere Alfie cries / and says “Enjoy his every smile / You can see in the dark / Through the eyes of Laura Mars” / How did it go so fast / you’ll say / as we are looking back / and then we’ll understand / we held gold dust / in our hands Sights and Sounds / pull me back down another year I WAS HERE / I WAS HERE Gaslights glow in the street / (flickering past) / Twilight held us in her palm / as we walked along / And we make it up / as we go along / We make it up as we go along Letting names / Hang in the air / What color hair / (auburn crimson) / Autumn knowingly stared / and the day that she came / I’m freezing that frame / I’m freezing that frame And somewhere Alfie smiles / and says “Enjoy her every cry / You can see in the dark / Through the eyes / Of Laura Mars” How did it go so fast / You’ll say as we are looking back / and then we’ll understand / We held gold dust / in our hands in our hands

The Bardi people are from the Dampier Peninsula situated around 200 kilometres north-east of Broome, Western Australia. Even to this day Bardi people continue to practice their culture and to live this way of life. The meaning of mandala comes from the Sanskrit word for both “CIRCLE” and “CENTRE” Even though it may be dominated by other geometric shapes like squares or triangles, a mandala will always remain a concentric (CIRCLE) structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas is usually different and unique to each mandala. For some, the goal of the mandala is to serve as a tool on one’s spiritual journey as it symbolizes cosmic and psychic order. For others, the mandala is used as a counter-balancing mechanism of one’s own psyche, (The spirit or soul) and a way for us to focus or meditate our way into becoming a whole person.

Fall is here. / Another year is coming to end. / Summer’s finished, / Summer’s gone…...................... This one is my newest work I started with watercolour pencil and finished it with acrylic and gouache on paper, size 42 cm / 60 cm. I used bold colours and powerful lines and brush strokes, as I do in all my paintings. / Artwork is for sale , signed and protected by copyright. Many thanks for stopping by !

The meaning of Yin-Yang: Yin-Yang represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents “everything”, while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called “yin” (black) and “yang” (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other.
costume pearls, cut out print of drawing, print, wrapped and archival glued – on 1” thick plywood Last year I participated in a local benefit exhibition where the artists are given 12×12” blank plywood boards and we can embellish them as we desire. I wrapped a portion of one of my prints of my drawing Autumn’s Child/Mon Ange on the board, cut out another one of it to create the “mask” of her – and added fake pearls to looks as if the drawing was popping out of itself and to tie all the elements together. (I was so lucky to go to my magic drawer and discover this long strand in there that were the exact diameter of the drawing’s. They are costume and come from sewing items that were my Grandmother Alvina’s.) Here is a shot taken of it laying flat: / >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here is what the image looks like on RedBubble products:

This one has been sitting unfinished on my PC for a few weeks, I was just not sure what I wanted to do with it until last night when I was reminded of the beautiful song “Autumn Leaves”, originally by Edith Piaf (in French, naturally), but beautiful also in its English translation as below. This was one of my favourite songs to sing when I was a teenager and I have wonderful memories of singing this to the beautiful piano accompaniment played by my cousin Anina. :) This is a mixed media piece in which I digitally combined a roller ball drawing I did for the purpose, with a chalk pastel drawing and photographic textures and brushes. Proudly New Zealand-made. :) Featured in Imaginative Realism, Sept 26, 2009. / Featured in Dimensions Oct 11, 2009. / Featured in Inspired Art Oct 18, 2009. Autumn Leaves Artist: Eva Cassidy / English Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Music by Joseph Kosma The falling leaves drift by my window / The falling leaves of red and gold / I see your lips, the summer kisses / The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall Since you went away the days grow long / And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song / But I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall I miss you most of all, my darling / When autumn leaves start to fall
