Took this on Stockton Bight, a long series of sand dunes that stretch from Anna Bay to Newcastle. These traps were placed to protect Williamtown air base (I believe) during World War II. 26km or so of these, 2m high concrete reinforced pyramids, and now all you can find is this small group, situated in a sand blow. Even they come and go depending on the wind. We took a tour from Anna bay, to see the tank traps, tin city and the wreck of the Sygma(?) I think the tank traps were the highlight for me OTHER NEW ZEALAND / FROGS / LENSBABY / INFRARED / BEACH / SPAM / PANORAMAS / LANDSCAPES / INDUSTRIAL
Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. By the Yarra in Melbourne. Also available in black and white.
On a frosty june morning I found myself to the top of a local range near Geranium in the Souther Mallee looking at one of the most brilliant sunrise’s I have ever seen. The warm glow of the sun across the clouds and the shifting light made me forget about the the freezing temperatures I was working in.
Main Street, Wilcannia I’ve sold a copy of this twice, at exhibitions at the Brisbane Institute of Art. Once A3 on metallic, and once A4 on heavy hahnemuhle paper A rework of The Last to Leave in an attempt to make it more like Paul Vanzella’s version – at the request of Wicca Davidson. This photo was taken in the Keep River National Park in the north-west corner of the Northern Territory. Canon EOS 300D, Canon100 – 400L IS lens at 400mm – 1/500@ f/9, ISO 200 hand held
Acrylic on canvas. This piece was literally painted either side of a storm, I began the base layers as the clouds welled and the thunder began to rumble, I let it dry as the storm passed, and then completed the final layers. I have decided not to make my paintings available on canvas, as they are already on canvas I feel reproductions should be on a different medium.
