this girl from porcelain has so much personality. She is awesome to watch on stage, divine to listen to and a powerful force of nature. So much fun to photograph. before fame, make overs and big contracts
For me summer holiday memories are all about bare feet, the sea, the smell of aerogard and barbeques, and long days and warm nights often spent in a caravan park by the ocean. This piece is about all of that, but I also wanted to infuse it with a bit of darkness and mystery …Holiday villages are so full of life and colourful characters by day, but at night when all have gone to bed and secured their temporary little homes, they can be quite strange and creepy…
This is one of the pictures I took today (11/7/2008) at the Australian War Memorial (Canberra).

Sigh…this is just life with RSD…there are not guaranteed treatments or cures. Sometimes my body flares up in such pain that I can’t even believe I stay conscious and yet there is nothing I can do about it, I cannot take a painkiller and make it go away… I hope that by sharing my story and experiences I can help educate people about RSD/CRPS…suffering from an unknown and invisible disease makes it extremely difficult to get by in a society that judges on appearance. It’s not like having a condition that people understand, like Epilepsy or Multiple Sclerosis. RSD sufferers have to explain their condition constantly, even to the doctors and nurses they rely on and often are met with looks of disbelief and suspicion. Please understand that this is not ‘phantom pain’, this is REAL PAIN, our nerves are firing pain signals constantly, there is just not a known reason for them to be doing that. Please be aware, when you are out there in the big, wide world, that there are medical conditions that you might never have heard of, degrees of pain that you might not understand…just be aware and maybe don’t got ramming people out of your way and stomping on their feet, you might be causing a lifetime of pain. Thanks for taking the time to read this, thank you for listening, by simply listening you have helped my cause…thanks again. Hey Bubbling Buddies, I am so terribly sorry for neglecting you over the last month or so. I went in for a ketamine infusion in February, it kind of went badly and then I got really sick with a virus turned chest infection that would not quit…since then I have been dealing with flares that are more violent and restricting than usual. I am, sadly, not able to do much drawing or painting in this condition, having more trouble with my hands than I used to. I am looking at moving to a bigger place so I’m hoping if I can have all my art things set up then I will still be able to get there, a little bit at a time. I am still trying to keep my blog updated, spreading awareness is hugely important to me right now as I have tried most of the treatments available in Australia and yet my RSD/CRPS worsens…I really need a miracle right now! I noticed after I filmed my ketamine story that I had featured JC Saint Po’s 2009 calendar in the background, his work is awesome, loving having a new piece on the wall each month! http://rellacafa.com I will try and update this journal when I’m able and if my medicine rattled brain spews out any little poetic pieces I shall share them with you too. Hoping to catch up on your updates and artwork asap, I miss the way you keep me inspired! x
This Is Beryl. Otherwise known as Baby Girl. She was purchased in NZ by a colleague of mine to replace a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo she’d had for many years in Australia but wasn’t allowed to import into NZ in case she had that awful Avian affliction that NZ purportedly didn’t have yet. Arriving NZ she purchased Beryl, named so because every Beryl she’d ever met had been boring which matched the new bird’s very quiet stoney personality. This new bird just sat in her cage without a movement or a word. Soon after it was dicovered this new Sulphur Crested Cockatoo did in fact have that awful avian affliction that NZ purportedly doesn’t have. Beryl lost all her feathers. Her beak and claws don’t stop growing. Every now and again she sprouts a few feathers but doesn’t keep them for long. My colleague has had Beryl for about 8 years now. Turns out she’s full of personality as long as you treat her like a human, you can’t go past her cage without her squawking “Hello Baby Girl” at you. She was very patient with my camera and turned out to be quite the poser. There’s something very beautiful about a pet that despite disfigurement is loved with great affection by a family. Beryl lives a totally normal pet life in and out of a huge cage, She spends time being held and likes to play with the dog’s tail when he’s not looking.
a shared moment in time….. [canon 1000D]
This dog belongs to my neighbor. I get such a kick out of looking into her face, and seeing her differently colored eyes. There are times when it seems she has a split personality, the good dog on one side, and the bad dog on the other! So I created this graphic of her face. There are times when she willingly stays home, and other times when she escapes from her yard and comes to visit us. Our neighbor doesn’t like it when she disappears, but I kind of enjoy her visits. Sometimes good or bad is relative to how you see it! / 6/7/09 / Thank You!

This is a macro of the beautiful Koala at the opening of the Gateway Centre, Bulli Tops- Wollongong. He was sooo cute and very interested in everything that was going on, that was until he spotted all the gum trees around the centre and tried to escape. Luckily he didn’t get too far. He was very contrite as you can see from this shot. / Taken with my Canon 40 DSLR / ISO- 400 / F/ stop- 7.1 / Exposure time: 1/125 / focal length- 76mm / Thanks for visiting
