  • Visited Austinmer Pool, near Wollongong Australia for the moonrise on Friday then the sunrise on Saturday morning. Some amazing people there who swim every morning – even though the water temperature was only 13 degrees. Series 2: / /

  • Another in the Austinmer Pool series

  • Austinmer Pool Series for a friend who now lives in England and would like some images of a favourite place. Sold a medium size print / along with this one /

  • I live by the sea… sometimes I get up before the dawn and go down to the sea to watch the sun come up…. and this is what I see down by the sea… and then I swim in it…. it makes me all goosebumps all over… then I go home and read the paper and drink tea… hmmm the sea and a nice cup of tea….. lovely

  • one of the more serious swimmers from down my way battling it out with the elements at dawn in one of the ocean pools at my local beach….. such dedication…. it’s all I can do to stay upright and take the odd photo in the face of this turbulent yet silky silky sea…..

  • most mornings I get up early and walk down to the sea to bath in the extraordinary light and watch the sun come up over the Pacific Ocean….. sometimes I just watch the day come to life but sometimes I swim in the dawn light and then go home all sandy and goosebumps to drink some tea and read the newspaper….it’s my own private churchy type thing and this small series of shots from this morning are being uploaded so you can share that experience….. this is the second of what will be six shot’s I’m uploading to share my mornings with you…..

  • most mornings I get up early and walk down to the sea to bath in the extraordinary light and watch the sun come up over the Pacific Ocean….. sometimes I just watch the day come to life but sometimes I swim in the dawn light and then go home all sandy and goosebumps to drink some tea and read the newspaper….it’s my own private churchy type thing and this small series of shots from this morning are being uploaded so you can share that experience….. well this is the last one in the series…. from this point the reality of the day kicks in and I leave this picture perfect little local place and go home to start the business of the day…. but hey this is just soooo much better than morning telly….. enjoy my little walk on the beach at dawn coz I sure as hell know I do…..

  • acrylic on paper A3 size

  • Photodocumentation of the mixed-media drawing “Headies” from the series “Drift” / 2m (w) x 1m (h) on 400gsm magnani rag / showcased recently at ‘Chronicle’ The Library Art Space in North Fitzroy

  • the next in my tiny moon madness series of shots…. a bight deep yellow moon rose from the sea down near me about ten days ago and it was just so beautiful that I had to waste a little bit of film on it…. when it came out from behind the heavy heavy storm clouds it was hiding behind it really was a thing of rare beauty….. / . / / . / and don’t forget to check out the other two in this series / . / / . / and smugglers moon one / . / . / / smugglers moon one / . / / . / and smugglers moon three / . /

  • as I sit high up on the edge of a cliff waiting for the moon to rise from the sea I watched all these crazy fisherpersons dodging the waves on the rock shelf over yonder. one slip and your fish supper not having fish for supper…. I guess it’s just lucky that the swell wasn’t all that big… or maybe it just looks more dangerous from where I was sitting that it really was down there on the rocks…and maybe they were looking up at me perched on the edge of the cliff thinking something similar…. life is funny sometimes / . /

  • sometimes the best sunrises to be seen are on mornings when the sky is just seething with the promise of storms all day… like here when I braved the wretched weather and was rewarded with a few moments of true golden glory as the sun rose into the heavy cloud mass …. interestingly as the sun rose the sky just got darker and darker and as the storms out to sea got closer and closer I couldn’t bring myself to leave the vantage point I had. I ended up taking a whole series of quite amazing shots in sequence before the rain hit and I had to make a dash for shelter. And as it’s a grey rainy day here again I’m going to post a few of those shots today starting with this one…. / . /

  • the storm out to sea is getting closer and closer and as the sun rises the morning gets darker and darker…. still I am unable to make myself leave my vantage point on the cliff top as it’s all just too dramatic and exciting and the rain is still a few minutes off so I stay and revel in the mesmerizing beauty of the morning….the little outpost of rock you can see down in the left hand corner is actually a huge cliff face which can also be seen in this image called fishing fools / . /

  • the next in my little series of uploads from the other day when I forced myself out of bed on a wildly wet and stormy morning to go and take some photo’s and was rewarded by the most spectacular sunrise…. followed by rain rain all the rest of the day… that’s life I guess…. anyway by now the storm out to sea is really getting close and I’m only about five minutes away from being drenched… but that’s cool… I can take quite a few shots in a five minutes and be home in three so I stuck it out on my little cliff top perch / .

  • after watching the sun come up from one headland mostly I meander along the beach to the next rocky headland….. the sun is just above the horizon now so no more blood red sky or mysterious reflected/refracted double suns in the water… just the warm golden sandy beach to stroll along….. / . /

  • Taken at Austinmer baths NSW Australia Canon 40D / Tonkina 11-16@ 13 / f13 / 6 secs / Cokin ND8 Grad HDR composed in photomatix.

  • small format acrylic and ink painting, about A3 size on draw&wash paper / ... trying to ‘map’ my new place for myself … I try to use limited palette and stronger contrasts … and create somehow the feel of large open spaces …. which cannot actually fit into one pictorial frame … and at the same time they do not fit into one frame of mind for me ….. therefore the multitude of ‘frames’ suggested here …. / ... these are older works related to ‘Austinmer beach’ painting uploaded long ago .. theme which I want to explore more ….

  • something really odd is going on in oz right now… it’s all gone a very fetching post apocalypse orange… and I do mean everything…. the sky was like all molten and melting down as the sun rose… well I know intellectually that the sun rose although I couldn’t see if for the choking clouds of orange dust everywear….. I walked down to the beach to see what I could see but all I could see was all orange… and there was a layer of red dust on the water and the sand and on everything… no joke I’ve never seen anything like it before…. I wonder if Broken Hill is still were it’s meant to be coz it looks like most of the red bull dust from around those parts is now laying on the beach down here in Austi… most peculiar indeed…. lucky I haven’t seen any orange cats this morning or I really would be worried…. / . / .

  • another orange moment of early morning madness … these pictures are Ok to give you an idea of what this very strange event is like but seriously it is just so weird to be in an orange world … you had to be here … breathing it and touching it and peering through it…. orange as far as the eye can see….. / . / . /

  • another orange morning of the apocalypse shot and in this one you can see the layer of orange dust that is laying on the sand… it’s formed like a thin brittle crust over the beach and the early morning jogger has broken that crust and revealed the white sand beneath it…. and the orange dust is coating the water out to sea as well… it’s a very strange thing when the water is coated with a thick layer of red orange dust and the horizen just completely disappears…. so very very odd…... / . / .

  • another of the orange morning of the apocalypse shots I took early this morning and there is a seaview but you may have to just trust me on that… it’s out there in the orangeness aways…. / . / . /

  • another apocalyptic sunrise from this mornings freaky orange dust storm over the eastern part of Australia… this shot was taken at around 7am and as you can see the sun is up and it really struggling to make it’s presence felt… but that is not enough to stop the swimmers venturing forth into the dusty waters….. I find these duller images even more spooky that the straight orange ones to be honest… this really looks like the last days of a dying planet….. not that that would stop the early morning swimmers…. / . / . /
