Yes, they are my feet and I’m relaxing on the beach watching the kids play in the water. I gave this image some texture and it reminds me of a very lazy, Aussie summer’s day at the beach.
I took this shot in Bateau Bay, which is part of Central Coast New South Wales Australia. Roughly 2 hours above Sydney. I love the glow of sunsets in wet sand and this, broken by the rocks, formed a scene I just had to capture!
2nd place winner of the 2008 Mildura Bush Film Festival (digital photography section). / Thanks so much to Robert Dye for supplying me with the name of the original artist for this concept. The Red Model was painted in approx 1935 by Rene Magrittes. / To see my website click here /

Whilst competing in a Rogaine in SW Western Australia my mate and I stumbled upon a deserted farmhouse and out buildings. Because we were camping overnight in roughly the same area I managed to get back the next morning to get a few shots. I only hope I can find my way back there as there are lots of shots to be made.
Well what can I say – I do believe some days, and other days I just hope. The Tasmanian Tiger and his mates the Devils are fast becoming favourite subjects for me. It’s hard to resist creatures that have such a compelling back story – mystery, possible extinction, all contained in one little island biosphere.

Where’s the water gone There’s a rather sad phenomenon that’s plaguing our great land / And just like the wary gambler it’s about to play it’s hand. / All the signs have been quite evident and round now for a spell / But we’ve fobbed them off, ignored them all, as far as I can tell. From the times of early childhood when my family drove around / All the creeks were full of water and the bores were rather sound, / Sure enough the droughts they came and went but mate, I have to say / that our Nation’s running kind of dry, hard times are on the way. Hey I think we’ve done our dash old son ‘cause what is going on. / All our dams and bores are getting low and where’s the water gone. / We will have to make some changes and mate make them pretty fast, / as the water’s disappearing and it sure as hell won’t last. Though we’ve held bad hands in years gone by we’ve always lived in hope, / that the rains were somewhere in the deck and til then we would cope. / But the evidence is ominous and looking rather bleak / and we’d do well to consider all the havoc it could wreak. We need each and every one of us to play a vital role, / as we’re playing for high stakes here and there’s need for self-control. / All will have to change the lifestyles that they’ve been accustomed to / And we’ll have to play our hands right and seek out an Ace or two. I wanted to do an image that symbolizes the Victorian bushfires that started on Saturday the 7th of February 2009, but I didn’t want this image to be sad (although we all know how devastating it has been), I wanted this image to be about the loss, the lives saved, how Australians came together and the growth to come. The Bird symbolizes all the lives that were saved, but this bird has no nest, so it also symbolizes all the homes that were lost and the nothingness some of these people now feel. The Birds claw clinging onto the tree branch is there to symbolize the fire fighters thoughts of hanging in there, and putting all these fires out. The Heart is there to symbolize all the heart ache and love, which us Australians have felt and will never forget. The Flower is there to symbolize all the help, support, donations and everything that us Australians have given to those affected, just to let them know that they have got support, and us Aussies are all here to help. The Music symbols are there to symbolize (all the lives lost) all the spirits flying up into the sky. The Leafs symbolize the growth to come, with rebuilding these affected communities. And I did not want an actual image of a fire in my design, so the swirls of the bird’s tail are there to symbolize the raging fire that affected so many. I ended up donating $630 for the bush fire appeal, from 2 paintings i auctioned and a couple of T’s :o)
